Quinnipiac Poll: 47% Believe Kane Should Resign

Kane-sadA plurality of Pennsylvanians still think Attorney General Kathleen Kane should resign.

According to the latest Quinnipiac Poll, Kane’s announcement that she wouldn’t run for re-election hasn’t softened the public’s opinion of her.

47% of respondents still believe Kathleen Kane should resign against 32% who think she shouldn’t. 21% are still unsure.

The support for Kane’s resignation holds across all gender, racial, educational and age demographics. Even Democrats are split on the question with 39% favoring a resignation with 40% against one.

Furthermore, just 25% approve of the job the AG is doing with a majority, 51%, disapproving. Once again, her best ratings were among Democrats but even with them her numbers were disappointing (30/45).

There is also no real gender gap on either of these questions.

Altogether, these results are barely different than when Quinnipiac last polled Pennsylvanians on Kane in October.

This survey was conducted by Quinnipiac University using live interviewers calling land lines and cell phones from March 30th to April 4th. They contacted 1,737 registered voters. The margin of error is +/- 2.4%.

  1. Only four months until the trial.

Only four months until Ms. Kane and all of her shenanigans will be under examination in a courtroom.

August is getting closer and closer and closer.

  2. I have to apologize for my husband. He spends all day on the into ternary looking for attention from strange men. Do you think that makes him gay. And whoever this HaHa guy is – Bob is totally obsessed with him. He mumbles “HaHaHa” to himself all day and night. I have tried everything – but nothing works. He has come unglued and I don’t know how to help him. Below he is posting as “Smokescreens” – and I am starting to wonder if our marriage is a smokescreen. I think he’d like to be married to this HaHa guy.

  3. state Rep. Jeff Pyle, R-60th, is unhappy with the situations regarding state Attorney General Kathleen Kane and former state Treasurer Rob McCord.
Because of that, Pyle said he is working on a bill that would amend the state constitution to allow for recall elections of state officials.
To do that, a constitutional amendment would need to be passed by the Legislature in two consecutive sessions. Under such an amendment, which has not been introduced, a majority of voters in at least half of the counties would need to approve a recall for it to get put on the fall ballot.
Then the people could remove an officer with a majority vote.
It would apply to elected state offices such as governor, treasurer, attorney general or auditor general.
“We’ve got lemon laws concerning cars and puppies. We had a treasurer that got caught shaking down state vendors, and we’ve got an attorney general that can’t stand in front of a judge and try a case. I think the lemon law applies here,” Pyle said.
Kane has been under investigation since 2014 for allegedly leaking grand jury documents. Her license to practice law is suspended. – See more at: http://www.thecranberryeagle.com/article/20160413/CRAN0101/704139804/-1/CRAN01#sthash.thPyXGDb.dpuf

  4. Pat – the last time Seth Williams spoke about his failure to fire the racists and perverts, he said “mea culpa.” He went on to say:

“I failed. I should have asked at that point for all the emails so I could have had the complete picture – from everyone.”

Well – when is Seth going to fix this “failure”??? Right now – the racists, perverts and woman-haters ARE STILL COLLECTING SALARIES FROM PHILADELPHIA TAXPAYERS.

This is from the most recent article:

Williams left the door open to reevaluating their punishment, which was one day of sensitivity training, but he said the only way for him and others to fairly assess the matter is for all the messages to be made public.

“I am personally saying mea culpa,” Williams said in an interview last week. “I needed all the evidence, and I didn’t have it …”

Earlier this month, Williams transferred them to lower-profile positions in the office, stripping them of the ability to handle criminal cases. Through a spokeswoman, Williams said the move was unconnected to the outcry over the emails.

Nina Ahmad, president of the Philadelphia chapter of the National Organization for Women and one of the toughest critics of Williams’ handling of the matter, said nothing short of firing the prosecutors would quiet the growing discontent. She called Williams’ call for more information “disingenuous.”

“What has been released has been enough to incriminate these men, who have clearly shown their deeply rooted biases,” she said.

Kane shared with the court 20 emails that were sent or received by the two men, calling the messages “misogynistic, pornographic, racist, obscene, and offensive.”

Many of the messages contained crude jokes that played on racial and gender stereotypes or mocked obese people, women, blacks, and gays.

Frank Fina twice used his Government computer to forward messages containing messages that played upon stereotypes, including that blacks would attack someone for fried chicken.

  5. Does Seth Williams think we forget that he still employs a racist pervert who used his Government computer to send e-mails that were WAY WORSE than the Supreme Court Justice who was forced out?

Aaron keeps asking if he has resigned yet. I am asking when Seth Williams is going to fire Frank Fina.

  6. Oh stop it, Bob. Everyone knows that is you. Put the keyboard down. Come to bed. I took my teeth out for you!!!

  7. Yep, there’s no trash quite like KaneTrash. And, there nobody who persistently exhibits conduct unbecoming quite like Kathleen Kane.

Everyone sing the song: “Hey,hey Kathleen Kane, How much money will you waste today? Hey, hey Kathleen Kane, So much trash will you spew today!”

“KANE STILL STICKING IT TO TAXPAYERS” from TimesNews

“Not only is Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane an unmitigated disaster as an officeholder, she continues to shell out our hard-earned dollars to satisfy her insatiable need to play political intrigue and to take down her enemies in her final nine months in office. But must it be at our expense?

“The only kind thing we can say about Kane is she had the good sense not to run for re-election this year. But she was thinking about it for a while.

“Kane has been charged in Montgomery County with leaking grand jury information to a Philadelphia newspaper. She insists she is innocent of the charge. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court suspended Kane’s law license pending the outcome of the criminal case scheduled for August.

“You have the state’s top law-enforcement prosecutor without a valid law license. Even Hollywood couldn’t come up with something that bizarre.

“Meanwhile, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives is considering initiating impeachment charges against Kane, although when she announced that she would not seek re-election, some House leaders suggested that they could save the cost of an expensive trial (by the state Senate) since she will be in office only until the end of this year.

“The latest fiasco is Kane’s appointment of a second in command to oversee the administration and policy decisions within her office at a cost of $150,000 a year.”

  8. Wonder who, amongst the Corbett Pervs, is already “telling.” The federal indictment is going to be a joy to read.

  9. Another day. Another dollar from Philadelphia taxpayers … and more granny porn, more KFC jokes, and more degrading women! This is awesome!!

  10. Seth Williams can’t continue to protect the person who committed crimes at his house. he will eventually have to explain why he did not report those crimes. He will have to tell us who, at his Office, he tasked with investigating those crimes (LOL – I’ll give you 3 guesses!!). He is going to have to tell us what made that young lady so angry that she slashed the tires of those City cars … and why he made the taxpayers pay for the damage she caused.

Desperate politicians do not make good District Attorneys. Desperate politicians demote hard-working prosecutors who have the morals and decency that Frank Fina and his pals do not. Desperate politicians protect criminals because they have given lots of $$$.
Desperate politicians have bartenders and Corbett Republicans running their PAC.
“A new day; A new D.A.” is not working out too well for Philadelphians.

Here’s Seth Williams’ new Chief of Staff/General Counsel, Kathy Martin, defending Frank Fina and his racist, pervert buddies:

“Keeping them here [at the Philadelphia D.A.’s Office] exhibits our faith in them that they’re smart, capable, hard-working, dedicated civil servants,” Martin said.

But their attitudes towards minorities, women and homosexuals are very disturbing. The fact that Fina and his pals shared the material with Judges they appeared in front of is even more disturbing. They created a group of people who all had the goods on each other. People that shared the same racist, woman-hating attitudes. And, once you were part of that group, the other members had a hammer they could hold over you.

We know that Frank Fina was one of the prosecutors in this group. He prosecuted people for mis-using their State computers. And then he used his Governmet computer to send this to his white male buddies:

    https://www.flickr.com/photos/zadock1/3580634808

That e-mail is but one example. There are many others. Many are just as disturbing.
When AG Kane won, but before she took office, Frank Fina finalized his “unjust” plea deal with Tyron Ali. Bruce Beemer called it “unjust.” Fina dropped all of the over 2,000 criminal charges that were pending against Ali. Fina also let Ali keep the $430K he stole from a non-profit set up to help children.

Con-man Ali’s lawyer is Bob Levant. Fina negotiated that sweet deal, in the 11th hour (right before Kane was set to take over) with Levant.

And now Fina is suing the AG’s Office for money. And guess who one of his lawyers is? Yep — Bob Levant.

Rumor has it that Bob Levant has also helped Seth Williams with the FBI’s criminal investigation into Williams.

A ways back, Seth Williams hired Frank Fina. Whether he knew of Fina’s “issues” when he hired him we may never know. But Williams certainly knows now. The Superior Court just called Fina’s conduct in the Penn State case “highly improper.” Williams certainly knows that too.

“Chief of Staff/General Counsel” is a high paying job. Seth Williams hired Kathy Martin off the street into that job. She has zero general counsel experience and hardly any prosecutorial experience.

But – she is Bob Levant’s wife. Now – Seth Williams’ “Chief of Staff” is in the Press, speaking on behalf of the Philadelphia DA’s Office, defending and praising her husband’s racist client – Frank Fina.

Huge coincidence, huh?? I think not. It’s no wonder that Williams refuses to fire Fina. They are in bed together. Levant and Martin are on that stinky mattress too.

Is it OK that Kathy Martin, a high-paid City employee, has a financial interest in smearing the AG and propping up her husband’s client, Frank Fina?

Is it OK that Williams is now demoting hard-working career prosecutors who speak out to Seth about not wanting him to drag the DA’s Office down with the likes of Fina?
Is it OK that he covered-up crimes committed by a jilted lover and made the taxpayers foot the bill?

Something is rotten at the DA’s Office.

  11. Pat- Great point.
AG Kane is still 30 points ahead of her rival, Frank Fina:
    https://www.politicspa.com/reader-poll-seth-williams-should-fire-fina/71058/
“Should Seth Williams Fire Frank Fina?
    Yes (77%)
    No (23%)”

Wonder what Seth’s money guys and campaign manager would do if Williams did the right thing and relieved Fina of his duties? I mean, Seth’s campaign manager and Fina are both Corbett guys.

Wonder what would happen with Seth’s new Chief of Staff/General Counsel of Seth finally fires Fina? Don’t forget who she is – the wife of Frank Fina’s lawyer.

LOL. The Kentucky Fried Chicken D.A.

  12. NEWSFLASH – Any Corbett Perv can file a lawsuit any time they want. Not one of the bogus lawsuits filed by the Corbett Pervs has cost PA even one dime.

In fact – the only one that has been decided in any way (Claude Thomas’ bogus lawsuit) was thrown out of Court.

  13. Nobody wastes taxpayers money quite like Kathleen Kane:

“A top agent under state Attorney General Kathleen Kane has been paid more than $70,000 over the past six months to sit at home.

“Kevin Wevodau of Moscow says he wants to return to work, but Kane banished him from the office because she believes he’s a “mole” working with authorities to monitor her.

“The accusations are contained in a Whistleblower’s lawsuit Wevodau filed last week in Commonwealth Court that alleges he’s been retaliated against for testifying before a grand jury that investigated if Kane leaked confidential information from a 2009 grand jury probe to a newspaper.

“Wevodau, special agent in charge of the bureau of criminal investigations, has been out of the office since he says Kane threatened him during a meeting at her home on June 19. The first three months he was on voluntary medical leave.

“He tried to return in October, but Kane refused and instead placed him on paid administrative leave, the suit says.

“Wevodau’s annual salary is $140,421, which equates to $11,701.75 per month. That means he’s been paid $70,210.50 as of the end of March to stay home.

“Chuck Ardo, spokesman for Kane, said he could not comment on why Wevodau was placed on administrative leave or when he might return to work. He also declined comment on the lawsuit.

“Wevodau, a former FBI agent, was hired in January 2013. Friction between him and Kane first developed in March 2014, when she shut down an investigation of Philadelphia legislators accused of taking bribes, the suit says.

Kane came under fire for her decision to halt the probe. Attempting to defend her decision, she publicly alleged Wevodau had taken notes and signed an affidavit that alleged the probe was tainted by racism. Wevodau denies he made that claim and wrote a memo to her in April 2014 advising her her statements were untrue.

“Soon after, a grand jury was empaneled to investigate whether Kane leaked information from a 2009 grand jury probe of a Philadelphia man. Based on the panel’s findings, Kane was charged in August 2015 with perjury and several other offenses. The trial in that case is scheduled to begin Aug. 8 in Montgomery County.

“Wevodau’s lawsuit says he testified before the grand jury in December 2014. He claims Kane suspected he cooperated with prosecutors, which led a member of her inner circle to interrogate him about the matter.

“Tension between Wevodau and Kane came to a head at the June 2015 meeting. Kane summoned Wevodau to her home after hours. She told him he was a “cancer” to the office and accused him of leaking information to the media. Kane pressured him to resign, telling him he would be “ruined” and might “lose his family” if he didn’t.

“Wevodau refused to resign. Three days after the meeting, he sought and was granted 12 weeks of medical leave. When he attempted to return to work in October, he was advised he first had to undergo a fitness-for-duty evaluation. He has offered to undergo the evaluation, but Kane’s office has refused to schedule it.

“The lawsuit, filed by attorney Christine Burke of Bensalem, seeks damages under Pennsylvania’s Whistleblower’s law and for violations of the federal Family Medical Leave Act. It asks the court to restore Wevodau to his position and compensate him for pay increases, bonuses and other benefits he would be eligible to receive if he were working.

  14. August is getting closer and closer:

“Attorney General Kathleen Kane’s request to have an out-of-county judge preside over her trial on perjury and obstruction charges related to an alleged leak of grand jury secrets from her office.

“Judge Wendy Demchick-Alloy also refused, in an order filed Tuesday morning, to throw out the charges against Ms. Kane, whose attorneys argued the process by which a special prosecutor used a grand jury to investigate the release of confidential information to a reporter was illegal.

  15. Ha3 — Does Seth Williams think we forget that he still employs a racist pervert who used his Government computer to send e-mails that were WAY WORSE than the Supreme Court Justice who was forced out?

  16. Yeah … No … You were wrong, dr. sklaroff. Very wrong.

You correlating Wolf’s numbers with the fact that AG Kane is STILL STANDING is beyond ridiculous. In fact, Wolf’s bailing on AG Kane probably hurt him with Democrats, women, and men with brains.

  17. @ Ha#:

My guestimate had been based on the fact that a few senate-dems had made noise suggesting they would place obvious-truth over party-loyalty; sadly, my hopes proved misplaced.

In any case, my underlying posture was predicated on the fact that it was to the benefit of dems to resolve this issue ASAP; thus, i feel that its having lingered has predictably tarnished wolf.

  18. I’ll tell you who will be resigning soon — Seth Williams.

  19. LMAO … sklaroff typing “as predicted” …. Classic!!

He was guaranteeing that Kane would be dragged kicking and screaming from the AG’s Office. Turns out the Repervlicans shit the bed and delivered an EPIC FAIL with their attempts to remove AG Kane.

And now there will be a trial!!! The last thing the CLOWN CAR wanted. Can’t wait. POPCORN is on order!!!!!!!

  20. DD – the lawsuits are part of the smear campaign. And they are being filed left and right …. They are sue-happy!! I guess that’s what happens when you realize your career in law enforcement is over. You just start suing ….

  21. David, where does it say that the people suing her are republicans? There are suits involving I think 12 people now. What makes that an R vs D issue? Maybe it’s a horrible leader making bad decisions issue. She tried to bully her way in the office to loyalty and made horrible decisions. How is that related to political parties?

  22. rsklaroff-

There is zero correlation between Wolf’s numbers and Kane as AG. Kane was elected two years before him. He f*cked up the downticket races in 2014 all by himself, leading to the irresponsible GOP majority that he doesn’t have the guts or skill to deal with.

  23. SpongeBob-

At some point the Repervlicans are going to have to admit that the more they go after Kane, the fewer of them are left standing.

Also, they haven’t proven anything against her in court and the best that they can hope for is that she doesn’t serve the last 3 months of her 4 year term.

  24. The RETARD is so desperate for attention that he actually responds now when you call him a RETARD. Guess he has accepted that he is a RETARD.

  25. Sure the lawsuits are because they are all money hungry! It couldn’t be because….. You know there is some truth to any of the claims. All these people from different section at different management levels and jobs all got together and said lets make some money. Maybe it’s more likely that she was and is in over her head and made dumb mistakes at every turn.

  26. LOL at the RETARDS who think Civil lawsuits are important. Any Fina Repervlican hack can file a lawsuit anytime he wants … and it seems they all have. They are lawsuit-happy!! Lookin’ for that FREE MONEY. There’s a new lawsuit everyday, it seems. Claude Thomas’ just got thrown out of Court … LOL.

Meantime, poor Seth Williams has no more friends and no more support in Philadelphia since he hired Fina. It’s so bad for Seth that he is now a Repervlican with a bartender heading up his PAC:

    http://www.philly.com/philly/news/politics/20160314_On_the_rocks__Democratic_D_A__Williams_turns_to_GOP_pols_in_Harrisburg.html

  27. At some point even the Kane apologists have to admit that there is something there when this high a number of employees are coming after her for similar types of issues. You people can’t honestly believe her craziness.

  28. Yep, Kathleen Kane strikes again! Just when you think her ethics can’t possibly go any lower:

HARRISBURG — “A top ranking agent in the attorney general’s office has filed a whistleblower lawsuit against Kathleen G. Kane, alleging she won’t let him return to work because she views him as a “cancer” for testifying against her in two grand jury investigations.

“Agent Kevin Wevodau, the supervising agent of the agency’s criminal investigation unit, filed the civil lawsuit Monday in Commonwealth Court in Harrisburg.

“In his 13-page lawsuit, Agent Wevodau claims he has been on paid “indefinite administrative leave” from his $140,421 job since October “although no purpose or reason has been identified.” He is seeking any extra pay and bonuses he would be due if he was working and reimbursement for personal damages to his name and reputation.

“We are aware of the lawsuit but we have not had an opportunity to review it and cannot comment until we have an opportunity to do so,” said Chuck Ardo, Ms. Kane’s spokesman.

“Agent Wevodau’s lawyer, Christine Burke, did not return a call for comment.

“Agent Wevodau, a former FBI agent, claims that since he was hired by the state in January 2013 Ms. Kane has acted “extremely paranoid” in his presence and would only speak to him through an intermediary because she thought he was an FBI mole sent to investigate her.

“The paranoia, the lawsuit claims, increased after the Philadelphia Inquirer published a March 16, 2014, story about how Ms. Kane, shortly after taking office, closed down an undercover investigation of elected officials accepting cash bribes in exchange for political favors.

“Ms. Kane’s purpose for shutting down the sting, the lawsuit claims, was “to maintain or gain political allies and serve her own political career goals.” But when confronted by media, the lawsuit claims Ms. Kane concocted a false narrative that she closed the sting because it was tainted by racism. To prove it, Ms. Kane publicly claimed that one of the sting agents, Claude Thomas, gave Agent Wevodau a signed affidavit attesting to the racist direction of the investigation.

“Agent Thomas denied those claims and later sued MS. Kane and Agent Wevodau in Commonwealth Court for defamation of character.

“In his lawsuit, Agent Wevodau says he never had any “contemporaneous notes or authored an affidavit suggesting that the sting was tainted by racial targeting.” It adds that Agent Wevodau wrote an April 14, 2014, memo to Ms. Kane stating her statements about racism were not true.

“The lawsuit claims Agent Wevodau then testified that Ms. Kane’s statements on racism were not true when he was called as a witness before a Philadelphia grand jury impaneled by city District Attorney Seth Williams, who took over the sting case and eventually charged six public officials, five of whom took plea deals.

“The lawsuit also claims Agent Wevodau testified before a Montgomery County grand jury that was looking into allegations that Ms. Kane or someone in her office leaked to the Philadelphia Daily News to embarrass Frank Fina, the former state prosecutor who led the sting investigation.

“On June 19, the lawsuit claims, Ms. Kane summoned Agent Wevodau to her house and ordered him to leave his cellphone in another room while she called him a “cancer to the office of attorney general” and blamed him for every negative news leak to the media. Ms. Kane then told him to resign or “he could be ruined [and] “lose his family.”

“Agent tWevodau refused to resign and took a leave of absence for an unspecified health condition under the federal Medical Leave Act from June 22 until Oct. 22. Ms. Kane, however, has not allowed him to return to work unless he completes a fitness test, which the agency will not schedule, the lawsuit states.

  29. DD – Fina is already down for the count. He has been demoted to a non-prosecutorial job at the DA’s Office. Well – at least that is what Seth Williams has stated.

Of course – Williams also stated he would re-visit firing the racist if he had “more information.” Well – the Superior Court just found that Fina’s conduct in the Penn Stste 3 cad ewas “highly improper.” Fina lied to the Court.

Well Seth – what are you waiting for??? Eakin’s e-mails were not as offensive as Fina’s. Why is Fina still collecting a salary from taxpayers?

  30. Kane’s got less than a year to go and already took down two supreme court justices. Will she complete the hat-trick?

  31. The results “are barely different” than before. So how much is barely? Quantify that. Maybe even give us the % and we can do the math, if you cannot.

  32. Half a bee, philosophically, must ipso facto, half not-be.

Likewise, if 47% say resign, then 53% do not say resign.

  33. 47% say resign against 32 who say she should not. Are you using common core math to figure this one out? The majority of those who have an opinion overwhelmingly say she should resign.

Maybe they are upset about her making a guy who accosted women in the office as Chief of Staff. Or that she made her little buddy search emails he should not have been for things he should not have been. Or that she has attempted to wreck the careers of people who were called to Tell the Truth about what she has done, or that she illegally provided emails to a third party for review, or maybe it was her selective release of emails that failed to include people she wanted to protect like her own sister who was found to have been sending perverted racist emails as well, or it was the constant lies she has told most recent saying she had no plans to run again even though she sort of told everyone she was. The list could be so much longer but you get the point.

  34. Land lines?!? This is fucking bull-shit. Seth Williams and Frank Fina commissioned this poll !! Just don’t call Quinnipiac and ask them. Please. Just trust me on this. Seth Williams and Frank Fina. It was them — trust me.

  35. So – that means a majority of Pennsylvanians get it and realize that Kane can and will continue to do her job.

So far – she is not only taking out pedohile-enabling priests, she is also taking out racists, perverts, and woman-haters that have been disguising themselves as Judges and Prosecutors.

    Can’t say I blame the MAJORITY !!
