John Rafferty is hitting the airwaves.
The State Senator and Republican nominee for Attorney General introduced his first two TV ads over the weekend.
The first, titled “Disgraced”, seeks to connect Democratic AG nominee Josh Shapiro to the scandals of Kathleen Kane and Rob McCord.
“Three disgraced politicians Pennsylvania can do without,” the narrator asserts.
The second spot, called “What They Are”, is about the heroin epidemic but strangely begins with ISIS.
“ISIS is a killing machine that must be destroyed,” Rafferty states over footage of the group.
“But there’s another group right here in Pennsylvania that have killed thousands, including children: heroin dealers,” the GOP nominee says. “And as Attorney General, I’ll prosecute them as what they are; murderers.”
According to the Rafferty campaign, these two fifteen-second commercials will be going up on TV immediately.

It is not exactly like there have not been plenty of Republican politicians who have gone to jail or been forced to resign in disgrace. Remember, Budd Dwyer was a Republican state Treasurer when he shot himself on state-wide TV after being convicted for a felony. At one point we had former Democratic and Republican legislative leaders sharing a cell at Camp Hill prison.
That said, Kane should be sent to prison and should have resigned as soon as she was indicted.

Kane went from being a wiffy stay at home mom to being political fodder for political campaigns and comedy writers all in the space of 3+ yrs. She is the perfect Republican TV ad.
I fully support unqualified Democrats like Shapiro and Kathleen Kane.
Is this an ad created by ISIS or Rafferty? I am thinking it’s ISIS. For a statewide row office seat. All I have to say is that Rafferty is a pathetic piece of scum.

Invoking ISIS in a campaign for a state row office? Fear-mongering really is a Republican brand. Rather than fight for additional properly funded treatment opportunities, let’s prosecute our way out of the problem. Prosecute the doctors and drug companies who managed to hook an entire generation on opioids, instead. You are just another fine mind from the 19th century, Senator.
Shapiro should stick to changing Joe Gale’s diapers and let the experienced prosecuting attorneys work.
