If our poll is any indication, State Representative Margo Davidson may face a difficult Democratic primary in her quest for re-election.
This news comes as a bit of a surprise as Davidson made a splash in 2011 when she became the first female and black legislator of her Delaware County district. There has even been talk of her pursuing a candidacy for the Lieutenant Governorship. Last year, however, she made headlines with some votes on abortion and school vouchers that angered the Democratic base.
Apparently, those votes have taken a toll on Davidson as former Philly Assistant DA and Lansdowne Councilman Billy Smith took over half of the vote in our three-way poll with Davidson and fellow challenger and political newcomer Dafan Zhang.
Smith finished with 139 votes while Davidson was chosen by only 62 readers. Finally, 44 respondents answered that they intend to support Zhang.

What is the tie indeed…the tie is between insiders at PoliticsPA and the current Delaware County Democratic Chair who is pushing the Davidson primary and splitting the local party in the process. The link to the county Democratic Chair has existed for many years, resulting in positive spin that stretches the bounds of reality in his favor and negative spin against those whom he has opposed. How else can you rationally explain why PoliticsPA named him one of the best county chairs due to his candidate recruitment skills when his track record at candidate recruitment in certain critical races, including District Attorney and Congress, has been abysmal? Last February, PoliticsPA named him one of the best county chairs because of his candidate recruitment skills. This came a week after they named his 2012 Congressional candidate a “loser.” Such rank inconsistency leads one to wonder who’s in bed with whom at PoliticsPA. And yes, before I’m criticized for not disclosing it, I ran against the same county chair four years ago. And this critique is well deserved.

You left out her vote FOR the GOP’s Congressional redistricting plan which screwed up the 7th and the hopes of most of Delaware county getting a Dem elected to that seat for another decade.
