  1. The lesson here is to litigate this BEFORE an election and make sure you have standing to do so. I’m sure Scarnati’s lawyers told him he couldn’t win in court which is why he capitulated.

  2. Democrats would have never seated a Republican… the unions would have been protesting not to seat a republican and would have all of the sudden embraced the PA constitution. This is a really weak political move by Republicans, something Mitt Romney would have supported .

    1. Totally wrong. Dems/R’s–the rules are all the same. Like the statement by Porter Randolph here Scarnatti knew he would not win in the courts by consulting with his inhouse counsel and made the correct move. Senator Williams won fair and square and there was no court whether the Senator was Dem or Repub that would have denied her a seat. The litigation needed to be beforehand and my personal guess is that the R’s never thought they’d lose the seat. The right decision was made to seat the Senator.

    2. You hate without factual basis. Do you also think Trump is a credible president?

    3. This is the classic both parties are bad, so I don’t have to feel guilty about supporting Republicans, even though they do underhanded stuff like this. The irony is conservatives used to complain about moral relativism. The Party of Trump indeed.

If the tables were turned, a Democratic Senate should have seated the Republican winner who was clearly domiciled in the district by the deadline. This isn’t hard.
