Reader Poll: Rand Leads, Hillary and Bernie Battle for Dems

white-house-north-2007-djRand Paul may not have done well in the Iowa Caucus but he can take comfort in the fact that he won our much more prestigious reader poll.

OK, it’s doubtful that he is comforted by that fact.

Nevertheless, his supporters came out in spades giving him 851 votes.

After that, Hillary Clinton edged out her Democratic rival Bernie Sanders, 425 to 416.

The rest of the candidates finished in the following order: Marco Rubio (192); Donald Trump (163); John Kasich (105); Ted Cruz (56); Jeb Bush (43); Chris Christie (34); and Ben Carson (11).

  1. Rand Paul suspended his presidential primary campaign and is running now for senator in Kentucky.
    My take:
He seemed to like constitutional freedom for select groups, and to hell with women, gays and minorities. Libertarian notions benefiting white males while restricting women’s reproductive freedom and personal privacy. He didn’t like the Civil Rights Act and felt businesses had a right to discriminate. What a messy interview on Rachel Maddow show on that subject. His ties to internet conspiracy radio/Alex Jones were disturbing.
He also was too tied up in religious fundamentalism in a secular government.

  2. Donald Trump is a media creation without defined or well thought out policy notions. A television personality trying to get by on soundbites and bumper stickers. Thin skinned, obsessive, can’t abide criticism, presides over violence at his rallies, is supported by white supremacists happy to hear him scapegoat everyone.

Ted Cruz is a frightening person who believes the Holy Ghost came down and annointed him president. His dad has wacky extremist views and installed Communism in Cuba before fleeing to Canada.
This religious extremism has no place in secular government. And what was with Cruz mailing out a official notification to people in Iowa they were being graded on their past voting records. And he spread a lie that Ben Carson was leaving his campaign.

  3. The good (stupid) people of Pennsyltucky still have Donald Trump!!

    And mental patient Ted Cruz.

LOL … even Bernie Sanders could beat those CLOWNS.

  4. I look at these elections like I look at any other high profile job. First thing is first, you have to do your research on your candidates, and when you do Rand Paul is the application you put at the top of the pile. This job is the most important one in the world. This job gives its owner the ability to unleash nuclear weapons, our most advanced form of warfare. This job gives it owner the control of the most powerful army in the world. This job gives its owner more influence in the United Nations than any other participating country. Who do you want to fill that job? Men like Donald Trump say that after years of knowingly exploiting the government they will stop corruption because it seems convenient now. Men like Ted Cruz say they will carpet bomb areas with innocent civilians and make the sand glow. These aren’t the men you want in charge of such responsibilities. America deserves a President who is calculated, a President who understands the damage that can be done by making rash decisions with so much power, a President who wants to limit his own power so those who come after him will do the same. America deserves a President who doesn’t stop being corrupt when it is convenient, but never corrupts in the first place. America deserves a President whose moral fiber is deeply rooted in his religion and upbringing. America deserves Rand Paul, but most importantly America needs Rand Paul. If America leaves entire countries decimated with nuclear waste the next battleground will be at home, and no wall will be big enough to keep the retaliation out. If you haven’t read Rand’s policies this election season take a moment and check them out. Depending on your race, gender, or socioeconomic status you may not have been able to vote just a few decades ago. Make this vote count by doing the research necessary when hiring the new leader of the free world. I’m confident that afterwards you will choose Dr. Paul.

  5. Cruz will never win. Rubio will if the establishment has there way. If Rand wins, for the first time in a long time, the American people win too!

  6. After Cruz continues to cruise, you may wish to repeat this poll…say, after South Carolina and before the SEC.
