Reader Poll: Rand Paul Leads 2016 Field

Rand PaulThe conventional wisdom was right and wrong in this case.

Last week, we asked our readers to select their preferred 2016 presidential candidate as of right now.

The presumed front-runner (and previous poll winner) Hillary Clinton did not prevail. Libertarian favorite Rand Paul, however, did prove to have a rabid fan base.

The Kentucky Senator prevailed with 402 votes to the former Secretary of State’s 308.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders was also a bit of surprise. With the support of 149 respondents he came in third. Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker finished fourth with 102 readers.

The rest of the field was as follows: Marco Rubio (67), Jeb Bush (52), Ben Carson (28), Chris Christie (21), Ted Cruz (21) and Mike Huckabee (9).

The full results are included below:

  1. Unless there is a mechanism in place to prevent one person from voting more than once, this poll is meaningless.

  2. Oh wow, hard hitting news! PoliticsPa reader polls are definitely important, oh wait no they aren’t. Just another example of how this site is becoming increasingly useless

  3. Please, please, PLEASE let Rand be the nominee! The blue tidal wave will turn the whole Congress Democratic!

And I see that Koch money did not pump very many votes for Scooter into this poll – more stupidly spent $$ by the dumbest billionaires in the world.
