Well, we asked you when you thought the government shutdown would end and you were not optimistic. As we enter the eighth day of the shutdown with no apparent end in sight, it seems our readers were quite perceptive.
Only 25 respondents believed that the crisis would end in its first week, though some believed that a resolution could come as the debt ceiling grew closer. 43 readers thought this would all end on Oct. 17, the day the nation will hit its debt ceiling, while 66 people said it would come in the days before.
As for this week, 68 readers thought the standoff would end sometime this week. The winning option, however, was that this crisis would last through the debt ceiling deadline. 97 people believe this whole mess won’t be resolved until after Oct. 17.
The full results on when you thought the government shutdown would end are posted below:

I’ll be happy if we avoid default. Because there’s no sign that they’ll resolve this, and we’ve got 8 days left.
The GOP is holding it’s collective breath and waiting for Barack Obama and the Democrats to blink. Fortunately, the Democrats realize this is no way to govern. Unfortunately, some of the Tea Party set believe the sovereign default by the United States government would be good for world bond markets.
This whole GOP shutdown is a complete disgrace, and it’s chilling to see how easily Koch brothers money can corrupt a once-great political party. Special shame on Pat Toomey, whose blather about “fiscal responsibility” went straight into the toilet when he signed on to this hugely expensive temper tantrum. And this is all taking place because the GOP repeatedly failed to raise enough votes to legitimately repeal Obamacara. Sickening.
