It was a stunning and rapid fall.
A week ago, Rob McCord was State Treasurer. Now, he’s pleading guilty to two charges of extortion.
One important, but little discussed, fact that we’ve learned is that there’s no agreement on what McCord’s sentence will be.
Each count of extortion brings a maximum of twenty years in prison but it’s difficult to imagine McCord serving anywhere close to that amount of time.
In fact, it could be argued that having to resign and the public disgrace that comes with it is punishment enough (one very famous man who had to resign made just this case).
Still, Rob McCord broke the law and many will assert that he should be treated no differently than anyone else. Furthermore, given public doubts about government it could be argued that it is essential that McCord face a harsh penalty to restore some faith in our justice system.
So we turn to you, dear readers, should Rob McCord go to jail?

Folks try to put aside your partisan identities! McCord is basically a very decent man. He tried to make a difference through public service. The same enthusiasm that got him elected Treasurer, also led to his downfall. The difference between McCord and the Judges and other office holders that run for higher elected office, without resigning their current office, is McCord stated the obvious. The others do not. A prison sentence of 1 year with a downward to a total of 9 months would be fair.
ron mcord aint dun nuthng wrong , he being framed by peoples who aint never like him,
Fair is fair. Think about the Orie family and the penalties they got for their election related activities and behavior – jail, fines etc. is this a male/ female issues and women must pay while men apologize and move on?
Give him the same treatment as Asher and other people got. Time to wake people up to their public actions.
Great comments you all. They made me think – think why I even read this blog. I will be unsubscribing from receiving all of this junk thinking and mail as soon as I post this comment. Goodbye!
Really in poor taste
Let him cool his heels a bit at the crowbar hotel and have him serve as an example to other pols who think that they are above the law.
lol. Wait a sec. I’m the bully? Umm…
You know what extortion is right?
Read some quotes from the ultimate bully Rob McCord:

@RobMcCordisaNarcissist you are a tool. I just wanted to put into words what everyone is thinking. You have posted under the same name for the past year, because of your personal vendetta?. All day you just go after someone that can’t even defend themselves (http://www.stopbullying.gov/cyberbullying/what-is-it/). I think maybe you should take your time to give back to something, other than spewing your shit all over this website and every post like you’ve done for the past I don’t know say year and 1/2.
Also what in the hell type of website posts a ” Should someone go to jail type of question”, you’ve got to be kidding me right. This is why you are seen as the shit rag of a website.
Are you kidding?! 🙂 Not at all. In fact, I couldn’t be happier. It’s been an incredible year and it’s only the 3rd of February:
-Tom Wolf was sworn in as Governor and has begun a Fresh Start for our state. I proudly voted for him in the primary.
-The New England Patriots won the Superbowl, I’m a Steelers fan, but I’m happy an AFC team won.
-And most of all, Rob McCord, was exposed as the douchebag he is, his political career is over and he’s going to jail!
I couldn’t be happier! 🙂
Looking forward to what 2015 has yet to bring!!
@Rob McCord is a Narcissist – you mad bro?
@enough – I understand that you are bitter that your candidate who you thought was a liberal hero has fallen and revealed his true colors, lack of integrity and flawed character. Don’t take your embarrassment and shame out on me or anyone else. You should have seen the signs long ago that McCord is indeed a sick, arrogant man who took advantage of the office he held. Extortion is a serious crime and McCord deserves to be punished to the full extent of the law. I would encourage you to read the article below that may help give you further insight. And you’re absolutely right, for about a year now I have tried to expose McCord for the arrogant, narcissist he is, bc I believe people like that are the lowest of the low. He is a crook and Pennsylvanians are better off with Rob McCord behind bars and barred from ever seeking or serving in public office ever again. Please take the time to read John Micek’s well written article below. Thanks

@Rob McCord is a Narcissist – you are a sad person. You sit here all day on a political blog and spew your venom.
Maybe think about volunteering your time and read to some kids or plant a tree?
@enough. Get over it. It’s an incredibly reasonable question.
“…McCord could face as many as 40 years in federal prison and be fined up to $500,000…”

PoliticsPA should be ashamed of this question and the hateful threads they are causing.

If he pleads guilty and saves us the costs of trial, i’m fine with reducing his sentence. The more jail time he has, the more $ we would be paying his room and board. Let him get out and find productive work (and paying taxes).
He should have the book thrown at him. He shouldn’t get special treatment. He definitely should serve prison time for breaking the law, violating the Hobbs Act, abusing his position and betraying public trust. This man is an arrogant, self-absorbed narcissist who deserves to be behind bars. He should also be ineligible to seek or be appointed to public office in the future.
Pennsylvania is better off with people like Rob McCord behind bars.
PennLive/Patriot News has great analysis on sentencing and has uploaded the official charges that were filed yesterday:
