While state House Speaker Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) is considering a run for Governor, some have suggested that he should step down from his role as Speaker if he jumps into the race.
As Speaker, Turzai is one of the lead negotiators with the Governor’s office and the Senate on major pieces of legislation, including the budget.
So we want to know, do you think Turzai should step down as Speaker if he runs for Governor?

This penchant for demanding that Wolper resign offices or titles when seeking the governorship is meaningless. Should Wolf resign as governor to seek reelection? Did Obama quit the senate when he ran for president?
It means nothing except a way to weaken a challenger’s standing before the voters. The fact that it has won the endorsement of the name-callers on this site tells me all I need to know.
Turzai knows the ropes in Harrisburg. He’s under no obligation to apologize for that.

He should step down. He is controlled by special interests and does not really care about his constituents, the people of Pa or even his fellow lawmakers
For what it’s worth, in 1978 Robert J. Butera, then Minority Leader, resigned from the House when he sought the Republican nomination for governor. Joe Lashinger won the special election, held March 21,1978 to complete the remainder of the term.
What difference can it make? As speaker, or not, he will always be going for press coverage. So he might as well be speaker. What difference can it make?

I think for he should remain speaker for the rest of the term and if he wants to run for governor and I think for he will be a great Republican Nominee for this race in 2018.
There should be a third option:
should turd’s eye resign and not run for gov?
Whatever he does, nothing changes. The titles may rotate but the lisp remains the same.
If Turzai should step down as Speaker, then Wagner should step down as Senator.
