Reader Poll: Should Wagner Run for Governor?

Jack Sara Wagner fist bump
Wagner and his daughter, Sara

Jack Wagner fell 12 points short in his run for Pittsburgh mayor. His old school style lost out to technocrat City Councilman Bill Peduto.

But should that be the end of the road for the former state Auditor General, or should he ride again? He ran unsuccessfully for Governor in the 2010 Democratic primary.

Most of the current crop of Democrats looking to challenge Gov. Tom Corbett hail from eastern Pa. Not one lives west of the Susquehanna river valley, or north of the Lehigh Valley. None reside in the Pittsburgh region.

Philadelphia Daily News Columnist John Baer has more on the possibility here.

  1. Big fan of Jack Wagner, but his time has come and gone. Rob McCord is best Dem chance to recapture governor mansion.

  2. Some people just don’t know how to take no for an answer. Cc: Sestak and every other Machine protege schlub who runs because it is “their” turn, and tries to push everybody else with real talent and vision who might be actually be worth a good —damn out of political races.

  3. Didn’t want him for mayor of Pittsburgh, so I surely don’t want him to run for governor!

  4. Why would anyone support Jack Wagner when he, along with Pete Dailey from Washington County, supported Corbett? They are not true Democrats. We need someone like Treasurer McCord to run. He would be the proven winner and a true Democrat!

  5. Sorry Jack, but we need someone is going to win. The recent track record is not good.

  6. I voted for him in 2010 and will vote for him in 2014 if he runs. he is the most qualified man for the job by far, and he would be a better governor than corbett could ever dream of being.

  7. Is this a joke or what 22% loss for governor 12% for mayor hit the road jack and dont cha come back no more.enjoy retirement
