Having already asked which Senate race will be the most competitive, so for our next poll we thought it only fair to ask our politicos how the House races will play out.
Currently, the House is stacked in favor of the GOP, 111 to 91, with Republicans having picked up 14 seats in the last cycle. Given the delay in passing a redistricting map, the state is keeping the same lines that they have used for the past five election cycles.
In theory, this would have been a big boon for the Dems, since the GOP hasn’t had the chance to secure their newly won seats and build up freshmen senators. However, since it was widely believed that the Ds would take a hit with redistricting, the party didn’t do as well as they’d hoped with candidate recruiting.
This unforeseen factor left the Democrats scrambling, as they had only a few weeks between the PA Supreme Court remanding the map and the deadline for nominating petitions.
Keeping all that in mind, we’d like to know:
What will happen to the PA House this election?
- Dems win more than 6 seats. (21%)
- Dems win 1-3 seats. (21%)
- Dems win 4-6 seats. (17%)
- GOP wins 1-3 seats. (16%)
- Both sides break even. (10%)
- GOP wins more than 6 seats. (10%)
- GOP wins 4-6 seats. (5%)
