Well, it’s clear our readers believe that Tom Wolf will not go negative in the final days of the Democratic primary.
Over the last few weeks, the front-runner has been subjected to repeated attacks from Rob McCord and Allyson Schwartz. The last Democratic Governor, Ed Rendell, even got involved and criticized McCord for some of his statements and ads.
So, it seemed fair to ask, would Tom Wolf respond in kind?
Overwhelmingly, our readers feel he will not. Nearly eighty percent, 623 readers, responded that Wolf would stay on the positive course. But then again, 25 points ahead in the polls – why would he?
Meanwhile, only 162 voters said that Wolf would turn to negativity.
This was also our highest response poll since April of 2013.
The full results are included below:

Agreed about Katie McGinty! Even though she does not seem to have a chance to win this election, no one dislikes her. I think her future is the brightest outside of the candidate who actually wins the nomination.
1) If either Schwartz or McCord had any internal polling data showing them within striking distance of Wolf, they would be putting it out to every reporter who would listen.
2) If Schwartz or McCord were within striking distance of Wolf, they would have pivoted from shooting all their arrows at him, and started shooting some at each other. (Trust me, there is PLENTY of ammunition to go around at both of them. Wolf just honored his promise not to go negative at another Democrat. These two just didn’t.) Geographically, they are pulling from the same base, so in order to win, each has to overcome both Wolf AND the other.
3) The only one who comes out of this looking good is Katie McGinty. She just gets to sit back and basically watch the circus the other two are putting on as their campaigns implode, while she sets herself up for a great future.
Hughes is the consummate opportunist. His endorsement is significant only in that it is now beyond political doubt that Wolf wins on Tuesday.
Sen. Vincent J. Hughes, the longest servving state senator in Philadelphia”s delegation, is endorsing Tom Wolf for governor.
A Hughes endorsement would be welcome in any statewide Demmocratic race. He is the rankiing Democrat on the senate Apprropriations Committee and a former chair of the Legislative Black Caucus. But it is particularly noteworthy in the context of the campaign’s recent cut and thurst as state Treasurer Rob McCord, most recently in a debate Monday night, has accused Wolf of racial insensitivity and failure of leadership over his ties to a former York mayor who was forced from the ballot in 2001 after being indicted, though later acquitted, as an accomplice to the murder of a black woman in a notorious race riot in York in 1969.
Hughes, along with York’s current mayor, Kim Bracey, who is also an African-American, is among sseveral black leaders who seem unpersuaded by the McCord crritique.
Wolf’s numbers are consistent. Exit poll will be our only indication of how things are headed. ONE WEEK TO GO.
It should be noted that my friend Desperate is referencing a REPUBLICAN polling firm who would most like to see Wolf or Schwartz the nominee.
@Jeremy – Franklin & Marshall, Muhlenberg/Morning Call, Susquehanna Polling/ABC-27 Harrisburg/Tribune-Review, Robert Morris and Harper Polling all have had polls. Every one of those polls shows Wolf beating Schwartz and McCord by 25% or more. Harper Polling (and prob F&M) will release a poll soon showing almost the same numbers. Look at the Harper Polling tweet.
Is some CAPITOL Journalist, who puts on big boy pants going to cover this story? Shouldn’t Charly Zogby join the dust bin of the Corbett Administration? Isn’t Zogby spending too much time protecting the Cyber Charter School Welfare Queens to look after the interests of the forgotten PA taxpayer? http://www.keystonepolitics.com/2014/05/pa-republicans-accidentally-lost-87m-dollars-lies-tom-wolf/
Speaking of polls, are you surprised there isn’t more polls for Governor? Where are the Phlly Inquirer, Pitt Post Gazette, Scranton Times, Erie newspaper, Harrisburg newspaper, Lycoming college, Penn State any of the other 100 colleges in PA?
To my knowledge, FnM, Morning call/Muhlenburg are the only two that have done polling.
