Reality TV Star Considers Run for PA House of Representatives

jon-gosselinA father of eight turned reality TV star turned DJ…turned candidate for political office?

Jon & Kate Plus 8 star Jon Gosselin recently took on a career as a professional DJ, but that hasn’t stopped him from considering other options. The former reality TV star told OK! Magazine last week that he is “contemplating running for office.”

And what kind of office exactly?

“Like political office, so I have a meeting but I’m still hesitant on it because I’m more intimidated, even though politics is kind of like entertainment, it’s just a different kind of world” Gosselin told the magazine. Gosselin, who lives in Reading, wants a shot at being a State Representative for Pennsylvania.

Though Gosselin is adamant that DJing is “pretty much” his “primary job right now,” he acknowledged that he won’t have a lot of time to decide whether he wants to run for office.

“I haven’t made a formal announcement yet, but I have to soon,” Gosselin said. “Actually I have to make an official announcement by January of next year because they are two-year terms. There’s a lot of stuff I have to put in place.”

  1. What I find depressing is not so much that this reality TV guy with no qualifications is running for office. Rather, I think it terrible that the comments are so negative on the legislature itself. As a lobbyist, I’ve worked with legislators of all persuasions With very, very few exceptions, they work hard in a 24/7 often thankless job and truly care about their district.

  2. This guy has 8 kids he can’t support on a DJ salary, of course he’s a democrat. Just saying.

  3. @KDSF – I already searched the records. He’s a registered Democrat in South Heidelberg Township.

  4. @Observer, except he’s one of your ilk – search the Berks County voter records for Jonathan Gosselin (DOB: April 1, 1977).

  5. Just a few corrections to this article:

John Gosselin is a resident of South Heidelberg Township, Berks County. He is currently registered to vote in Ward 1.

South Heidelberg Township is in the 129th Legislative district, represented by Republican Jim Cox.

  6. He also had a short gig as a maitre d’ in a country tavern in Western Berks. Running for State Rep. will be too much and too hard of work for this guy.

  7. Well, if professional Clown Car driver and government shutdown artist Ted “Calgary” Cruz can run for President, then why not this guy? Sounds like your prototypical GOP candidate.

  8. well he does have experience with a large amount of crying babies. sounds like a good fit with PA House
