Is liberal-champion Ed Rendell joining conservative-favorite Fox News?

The governor indicated Monday during a press conference he’s open to the idea but emphasized no concrete discussions have taken place. Rendell is leaving office early next year after serving eight years as the state’s chief executive.

“I am now in a position that I am looking for a job, so anybody who has any interest in talking to me, I would be happy to talk to them,” the governor told reporters.

“You know the old saying, ‘Beggars can’t be choosy’? I’m in that situation.”

The governor is a frequent guest on a variety of Fox news programs.

The Patriot-News’ Laura Vecsey first wrote of the rumors after interviewing Rendell in late July. At the time, he said there was vague talk of him becoming the network’s version of Joe Scarborough. The former GOP congressman from Florida hosts his show “Morning Joe” on MSNBC despite the network’s otherwise left-lean.

“Joe Scarborough has done good job for himself and discourse in America by being on MSNBC,” the governor said, adding later, “I think having a progressive commentator on fox might make some sense.”

If Fox News made a good offer, Rendell said he would seriously consider the job. But he emphasized no such offer has yet been made.

  1. I’d actually love Rendell to do a news talk show- I’d hate to see him give fox ratings for anything tho. Maybe CNN will decide to put actual talent on and hire him!

I’m not a Rendell lover or hater. I think there’s alot of people in the state in a similar position. We can’t stand some of his policies but we’d trust him to fight instead of run in a gun fight.
