Rep. Barletta Endorses Justice Correale Stevens

justice-stevensPA Supreme Court Justice Correale Stevens got some help from the legislative branch this week.

Justice Stevens announced that he has received the endorsement of Congressman Lou Barletta.

“The people of Pennsylvania have been well-served by Cory Stevens in his years on the bench.  We could not ask for a better, more conscientious and principled jurist,” Barletta said. “He has always stood for law and order, and for the rights of law-abiding citizens. I am proud to call him a friend, and more importantly, to able to continue to call him ‘Justice Stevens.'”

“As a Luzerne County native, I am honored to receive the support of my longtime friend, Congressman Lou Barletta,” said Justice Stevens.

“I share his commitment to our area and will continue to campaign aggressively to protect the rights of victims of crime and our law-abiding citizens,” Stevens continued. “Congressman Barletta has attended Law Day visits to area schools with me and has attended court sessions I have held in the community.”

Justice Stevens was appointed by Gov. Corbett to replace Joan Orie Melvin. He is running for one of three contested seats up for grabs this November.

  1. Stevens experience and is the best choice. the age issue will pass in the legislature

  2. The age bill will pass next spring. Stevens is safe, along with Covey (64 y/o) and Allen (67 y/o)—all of which will not be able to serve a full term.

  3. Unless the constitution is amended this year; which isn’t likely, Stevens will only be able to serve 1 year as he will turn 70 too soon. Thus a POOR choice by Lou.
