Rep. Schwartz Adds to DCCC Responsibilities During 2012 Cycle

Adding to her duties as the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s recruitment chair, U.S. Representative Allyson Schwartz will now manage the organization’s candidate services efforts as well, according to an announcement emailed by her campaign team Tuesday morning.

Schwartz is taking over the latter after U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida was named chair of the Democratic National Committee last month.

“As the national recruitment and candidate services chair, Allyson is working every day to ensure that Democrats recruit top candidates and build smart campaigns to win in districts across the country, the crucial building blocks to a path to retaking the House Majority in November 2012,” the email said.

In addition to the expansion of Schwartz’s duties, the DCCC has also announced that second term Congressman Jim Himes will lead the organization’s Frontline program, which dedicates resources to defending the party’s most vulnerable incumbents.  U.S. Rep. Mark Critz (PA-12) is the Keystone State’s lone Frontline member.

Reps. Donna Edwards of Maryland and Jared Polis of Colorado, meanwhile, will coordinate the DCCC’s Red to Blue effort in support of Democratic challengers running the GOP-held districts.

“Reps. Allyson Schwartz, Jim Himes, Donna Edwards and Jared Polis are the perfect combination of drive, experience, political know-how and leadership savvy to make this the shortest Republican majority in history,” DCCC chair and New York Rep. Steve Israel said in a statement on Tuesday. “I’m thrilled they will be working with us this cycle to ensure Democratic members and candidates have the tools and resources they need to win.”

  1. Limited amount of time they spend in DC and their districts? You’ve clearly been mis-informed. That is simply not true.

  2. I have a problem with this. We are paying these people to represent the citizens.

Considering the limited amount of time they spend in D.C. and their local district offices, combined with the amount of time they spend pushing their way to get in front of a camera, these people have to be the most overpaid of any workers in the U.S.

If the DNC is so enamored of their talents, these people should resign and work for the Party.
