Republican Gubernatorial Fundraising Breakdown

The reports are in and we are breaking down the fundraising for the four GOP Gubernatorial candidates.

Entering 2018, state Sen. Scott Wagner (R-York) holds a cash advantage over the rest of the gubernatorial field with $5,919,757.84 on hand, $395903.62 ahead of Paul Mango’s cash on hand.

Laura Ellsworth is the only candidate to enter the year with under $1 million on hand, with $417,244.52.

Both Mango and Wagner donated money to their campaigns.  Mango outpaced all other candidates in self donations with $6,709,000 of his own money in the race, while Wagner donated $1,454,368.51 to his.  Ellsworth donated $15,000 to her campaign.

Part of Wagner’s fundraising came through transfers from his state Senate campaign totaling $55,000.

At the end of the year Wagner’s campaign is carrying a large amount of debt compared to the other candidates, holding $5,652,368.51 in debt which is over five times the next closest.

All four candidates train Governor Tom Wolf’s numbers heading into 2018.  Wolf entered the year with $11 million on hand and an uncontested primary.

Below is a breakdown of the topline numbers from all of the candidates filings.

  1. Paul Mango is the Trump candidate of the race. We need a self made businessman in the race. Wagner is part of the swamp, and is in bed with lobbyists.

    1. everything noted during the past half-decade supports the view that Wagner is the Trumpist, here, and his having achieved electoral success uniquely AGAINST the “establishment” makes him particularly attractive

  2. Maybe it’s me but I’m seeing red flags with this crop of GOP Gov candidates. There are no Tom Ridge types here exciting the base but rather a trash dude worth millions in the State Senate and another guy worth millions self funding at 8 million. Then there is Turzai who is getting lost with this lackluster bunch. They seem flat and uninspiring. That man of the people Tom Ridge candidate is nowhere to be found.

    1. it’s you

ridge was ok but didn’t excite
wagner promises to drain the swamp, and inspires
      he’s the populist

  3. I can’t believe how badly Mango’s coffers are getting zapped by John Brabender. I guess it is true what they say that what goes around comes around. Mango ripped off his clients (taxpayers) for years as a “consultant”, now he gets taken to the cleaners by his political consultant. The circle of bilking is now complete. I wouldn’t want a bilker (crook) or bilkee (naive) running the affairs of state. Mango is both.

    1. mango has also not discounted his pledge to maintain medicaid expansion, thus supporting ObamaDon’tCare

  4. I thought Mango based on his years as a “consultant” could turn around the state but based on his campaign report, I think Mango will allow the state to get bilked like he allowed his campaign to get ripped off.

Unreal, $15,000 a month to David Urban who is a swamp lobbyist that has zero modern campaign experience and putting your name on the top of a campaign team letterhead doesn’t equate with campaign expense.

But the real genius of this campaign is John Brabender or as some call him Bra-Bilker or Bra-bendover. I don’t know how he does it. He managed to bilk Mango $400,000 + in “production” fees and while only spending $300,000 in tv air time in 2017. The fact he was able to convince Mango, Mr. Financial Wizard, this was a good deal is incredible. Gotta hand it to Bra-bilker. He is just mopping up along with Mango’s high priced $10,000 a month plus consultants.

PA will no doubt be in great hands if Mango and his team of plunders are in charge.

  5. Paul Engelkemier-

YES! Thank you. This is the kind of table/report that should be standard when comparing candidates.
