Mr. Fleck while I admire and applaud you for coming out, I still can’t get over the fact that your party base is full of homophobic, sexist, and racist politicians. Their stance on several keys issues are simply appalling. The republican party needs to get their act together! This GOP is definitely NOT the party that Abraham Lincoln belonged to!
Congratulations Mr. Fleck, it is tough, but with the help of your family and friends everything will be ok in the end. We should all learn to respect others and accept them just as they are. Have a great day.
I’m proud of you
So another Republican elected official has come out of the closet, bravo for you. And how many homophobic bills has Mr Fleck proposed or endorsed. And how long before he disavows those votes or endorsements. And how long before the Republican caucus kicks Mr Fleck to the curb….
If he is so courageous, he should have come out before the election or at least before the primary. But he knew deep down his district voters would have dumped him real fast and that state party officials would never endorse his re-election.
It is quiet acts such as this that do more to bring acceptance from “traditional” society than all the legislation and Pride parades could ever do. The more people who realize they know and like a Gay person, the more likely they are to realize that there is very little difference in their life wants, needs and goals. Thank you for this Mike.
While I understand the process of coming out is difficult, I myself have been, I simply do not understand how anyone can be affiliated with the republican party. The party of hate and bigotry. Maybe you may be able to make a change within that party, however I doubt it.
Thank you for your courage.
