The 2022 field is still forming for U.S. Senate, but one rumored GOP hopeful gave a verbal boost to another.
Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-Allegheny) offered kind words in favor of a Sean Parnell bid, according to Newsmax’s Logan Ratnick.
“I think Sean Parnell is our best candidate. He ran an incredible House campaign even though he didn’t prevail. He’s got a lot of respect with the base of the party and he has the ability to fundraise nationally. No one will outwork him,” Reschenthaler said.
.@GReschenthaler on Senate race in PA: “I think @seanparnellusa is our best candidate. He ran an incredible House campaign even though he didn’t prevail. He’s got a lot of respect with the base of the party and he has the ability to fundraise nationally. No one will outwork him.”

A spokesperson for Reschenthaler’s congressional campaign declined to elaborate on the comments, including whether they constituted a formal endorsement. Reschenthaler’s name has appeared in many ‘they might run for Senate’ lists. Suffice it to say, however, that it would be highly unusual for him to go on the record with such a message if he expected to face Parnell in a primary.
POLITICO reported on May 2 that Parnell is expected to run for the U.S. Senate in 2022 and that he met last week with the chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Donald Trump Jr. also tweeted on Feb. 1 that he would support Parnell for whatever office he sought in 2022.
In 2020, Parnell, a combat veteran and author, launched an unsuccessful campaign for Congress, losing to Rep. Conor Lamb (D-Allegheny) by just over 2 points in the 17th Congressional District.
According to Daily Kos, Joe Biden bested Donald Trump by just under 3 points in the battleground western PA district.
POLITICO also reported on May 1 that Lamb has told donors that he’s likely to enter the U.S. Senate race as well.
No member’s of the state’s congressional delegation has formally backed a candidate for U.S. Senate yet, however, Treasurer Stacy Garrity has endorsed Jeff Bartos for the race.
Lamb and Reschenthaler both must keep an eye on congressional districts, as Pa. must eliminated a congressional district and their western Pa. seats will be redrawn.

Guy Reichenholler is a Nazi asshole.
Either this wannabe imposter cannot spell or Politics PA is on his trail, so the sleazy coward has to worm his way into the site by changing spellings. Either way, he is a slug to be squashed, not a man.
I would like to see a district drawn that would pit Lamb against Reschentwitler. Lamb would clean his clock and we would be rid of that right wing twat.
Guy Reschenthaler is one of the smartest and sexist people I know.
…and you are the slimiest sleaziest imposter.
And you’re the whiniest of the pu$$y b*tches.
He couldn’t beat Conor Lamb. He would be a welcome candidate for the dems!
