RFK Jr. To Address Future Plans in Friday Address Amid Speculation He Will Leave Race

In what could be a consolidation of the presidential race, independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will address the nation on Friday in Phoenix, Ariz.

A media advisory sent out by the campaign said that RFK will speak “about the present historical moment and his path forward.”

A day ago, his running mate, Nicole Shanahan, said the campaign is considering exiting the race and throwing its support behind former President Donald Trump.

The wealthy California attorney shared her thoughts on an episode of the podcast Impact Theory.

“There’s two options that we’re looking at,” Shanahan said. “One is staying in, forming that new party, but we run the risk of a Kamala Harris and [Tim] Walz presidency, because we draw votes from Trump or we draw somehow more votes from Trump.

“Or, we walk away right now and join forces with Donald Trump. We walk away from that and we explain to our base why we’re making this decision.”

Following Shanahan’s remarks, Trump told CNN in an interview that he would consider giving Kennedy a role in a potential second Trump administration if Kennedy dropped out and endorsed him.

“I like him, and I respect him,” Trump told the outlet. “I didn’t know he was thinking about getting out, but if he is thinking about getting out, certainly I’d be open to it.”

Kennedy’s campaign has struggled to raise money and get their names on the ballot in every state. The campaign raised just $5.6 million during the month of July, while spending $7.2 million, leaving only $3.9 million cash on hand.

On Tuesday in Pennsylvania, Kennedy missed an opportunity to testify for the state’s Commonwealth Court about a challenge to his official residence that could cause the 70-year-old candidate to fail to qualify for the state’s ballot.

Kennedy arrived nearly two hours late for the court date after his flight to Harrisburg was canceled.
