Rebecca Rhynhart has won the Democratic City Controller primary.
Rhynhart defeated incumbent Alan Butkovitz by receiving almost 58% of the vote with 71% of precincts reported.
Butkovitz, the three-term incumbent, received the endorsement of the Philadelphia Democratic Party and was viewed as the favorite in the race. Rhynhart’s endorsements included former Gov. Ed Rendell and the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Rhynhart will face GOP nominee, Mike Tomlinson, who ran unopposed today, in the November general election.

Butkovitz had been making the rounds across the state seeking support to run for Auditor General. Guess that pipe dream is over. But 30 years on the taxpayer payroll is a pretty good run.
Very sweet win.
Congrats Rebecca Rhynhart on winning the primary tonight and I think for you will be the favorite is to win in this November’s General Election.
