RNC Chair Priebus to Headline PAGOP Dinner

By Keegan Gibson, Managing Editor

The PA Republican Party will continue its trend of national GOP speakers during this September’s State Committee Meeting.

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus is coming to the Harrisburg Hilton on September 16th to keynote the PA GOP’s $75/$100 per-plate fall dinner. He will headline a $250 per-person VIP reception immediately beforehand.

The PAGOP’s winter dinner featured National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Rep. Pete Sessions.

“Since taking over as Chairman in January, Reince has transformed the RNC operations to put our Party on track to elect a Republican President in 2012.  We are thrilled to have him share the latest from the RNC with us at our Fall Dinner,” wrote PA GOP Finance Director Angela Nelson in an email.

The dinner will also feature a presidential straw poll, which should give observers an idea where PA’s party leaders (including members of Governor Corbett’s political inner circle) are leaning.

“It is fitting that we hold this poll in Harrisburg, which was home to the very first Straw Poll in 1824 where Andrew Jackson led John Quincy Adams 335 votes to 169,” Nelson noted.

PA GOP Chairman Rob Gleason was an early supporter of Priebus’s tenure. He publicly distanced himself from former RNC Chair Michael Steele late last year, and announced his support for Priebus before the elections in January.

Priebus is a Wisconsin attorney who chaired his state’s party in 2010, when it picked up the Governor’s seat, a U.S. Senate seat, and both houses of the state legislature.
