Romney to PA Tuesday; Obama Camp Attacks

Mitt Romney has a few friends in Pennsylvania. He’ll be attending a high-dollar fundraiser today in Bryn Mawr. Meanwhile, the Obama campaign and Dems have a counter-event of their own.

Reports the Inquirer:

Fresh off his primary win here last week, Mitt Romney is scheduled to return to the area Tuesday for a private fundraiser hosted at the Bryn Mawr home of real estate developer Mitchell Morgan and his wife, Hilarie.

The invite list reads like a who’s who of the area’s GOP dignitaries. Top Republican fundraiser Robert B. Asher, former Gov. Tom Ridge and Patrick O’Connor, vice chairman of the Cozen O’Connor law firm, all made the list.

The Morgans, who have previously hosted fundraisers for Rick Santorum in 2006 and John McCain during his 2008 presidential bid, have emerged as frequent and generous Republican donors over the last six years. So far this year, they have given at least $51,000 to Republican candidates and causes and serve as members of Romney’s Pennsylvania fundraising committee.

The Obama campaign and Democrats aren’t sitting idly by. OFA and the Bryn Mawr College Democrats are hosting Rep. Allyson Schwartz (D-Montco) for a speech and discussion on women’s issues  and “what is at stake for women this election and the choice they have between President Obama and Governor Romney.”

Stated the Obama campaign’s press release:

“Governor Romney won the Republican Party’s nomination by running to the extreme right on issues important to women.  He refuses to say whether he would have signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, has called Roe v. Wade ‘one of the darkest moments in Supreme Court history,’ and says he would  ‘get rid of’ Planned Parenthood, a vital health care provider of preventive services like breast and cervical cancer screenings for millions of women. There is no question Romney will work to turn back the clock on issues important to women.

Obama Ad

And finally, the Obama campaign has rolled out its latest general election ad, which will air in Ohio, Virginia and Iowa. The spot (above) is titled “Swiss Bank Account” and hits Romney on a variety of outsourcing-themed issues.

The Romney camp responded, reports Tom Fitzgerald:

“With the worst job creation record in modern history and the slowest economic recovery since the Great Depression, President Obama is trying to distract Americans from the real issues with a series of sideshows,” said Amanda Henneberg, spokeswoman for the Romney campaign.

One Response

  1. Both sides need to bring jobs back to America One Veteran at a time.

This week we honor a company named Workspace Communications for creating the Workspace Warrior Initiative. Vets2Work is asking companies who outsource jobs offshore to bring a small percentage back and employ military veterans and their families. These are the higher paying jobs like tech support, product support and customer retention. These positions are staffed virtually from the veteran’s home in order to employ remote and disabled veterans including caretaker family members. With all the Federal and state(s) tax credits available including training, the cost per hour is just slightly above what companies are paying offshore.

Vets2Work is asking all veterans to identify local businesses that outsource offshore and ask them to bring back a small percentage and hire military veterans. We feel that this small contribution will grow after these companies see the benefits of US veterans over offshore employees.
