Ryan To Headline Erie Dems Spring Dinner

Another 2020 Democratic hopeful is set to take on Pennsylvania.

Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) will be the keynote speaker speaker for the Erie County Democratic Party spring dinner on May 2 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center in downtown Erie.

“Tim Ryan is a staunch supporter of organized labor, American industry, and the values that resonate with Erie County voters,” said Jim Wertz, chairman of the Erie County Democratic Party. “We know how important northwest Pennsylvania is to the outcome of the 2020 elections and we’re pleased to welcome Rep. Ryan as he begins his bid for the presidency. We look forward to hearing his vision for America.”

Last week, Ryan announced his intentions on seeking the 2020 Democratic Party presidential nomination.

Ryan’s represented sections of Northeast Ohio, including Youngstown and Akron, that go all the way to the border of Pennsylvania since 2003. He launched an unsuccessful bid to become House Minority Leader in 2016 over Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

A number of Democrats have laid the groundwork in recent weeks in the keystone state.

Former Texas Congressman Beto O’Rourke made a campaign stop in State College in March, while Sen. Bernie Sanders has a rally set for Sunday in Pittsburgh, followed by a town hall on Fox News in Bethlehem on Monday.

Tickets for the event are $40 per person and are available here.
