Saccone to Run in New 14th District if Map Stands

State Rep. Rick Saccone, who is running in the special election to replace Congressman Tim Murphy, said he will likely run in the new 14th district if the new Congressional map stands.

“Since I already represent – assuming I win this special election, I’ll be representing people in that area – I would be inclined to run in the 14th District,” Saccone told the Observer-Reporter.

Under the newly drawn map, Saccone would live in the redrawn 18th district which would also be represented by Congressman Mike Doyle (D-Allegheny).

The new 14th district would include Greene, Fayette, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.

State GOP leaders have filed an appeal of the new map with the U.S. Supreme Court for a stay on the new map until after the elections this year.

  1. If he cannot beat Lamb, nobody will care where he runs. Would Republican candidates from the 14th “fear” him after getting millions spent on his behalf….and losing? I doubt it.

  2. Regardless of the voter registration numbers, I would note that Trump won the “new” 14th by 30 points.

  3. No way in hell I’d vote for someone who doesn’t live in the district. They both have NO chance in the 14th.

    1. Run against Doyle please , kick his insider ass and save us from the self absorbed insider Perc King

      1. Yes please run against Doyle so you can get CRUSHED !!! Doyle has a great record on working families issues protecting Social Security , Medicare and workers safety issues.

      1. 16 % PLUS all the coal miners that were promised ” help is on the way ” realized that they were lied too and arnt real happy wit trump and the r’s

  4. If he loses a Trump District to Lamb, my guess is that he will have some competition in that Primary. Fact is the new District is GOP safe unless Lamb runs as the incumbent so why should anyone sit back and let Saccone have it?

    1. Agree. Wouldnt be surprised if Senators Ward or Reschenthaler file to run against him. Would be hilarious revenge that’s for sure.
