Sanders To Rally in Pittsburgh

Focusing on battleground states.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) will be stopping in Pittsburgh on Sunday, April 14 to rally at Schenley Plaza in North Oakland.

This campaign stop comes just one day prior to the Fox News town hall Sanders is participating in Bethlehem, which will focus on the economy and jobs.

The visit in Pittsburgh is part of a larger focus on battleground states that went to President Donald Trump in 2016. Sanders is planning to rally in Madison, Wisconsin on Friday night and at a community college in Warren, Michigan on Saturday. According to the AP, his campaign will add stops in Indiana and Ohio.

Doors will open for the Pittsburgh rally at 3:30 pm for the 5 pm event. The rally is free and open to the public, although RSVPs are encouraged, according to the Tribune Review.

Sanders is the second 2020 Democratic hopeful set to campaign in Pennsylvania. Former Texas Congressman Beto O’Rourke held a rally in State College last month.

This visit comes at a time when more pundits are viewing Sanders as a front runner for the Democratic nomination.

A recent Emerson poll has Sanders finishing second in the Pennsylvania Democratic primary, only trailing former Vice President Joe Biden.

A straw poll taken this weekend at the conservative Pennsylvania Leadership Conference showed the Democratic candidate they view as the biggest threat to Trump in Pennsylvania is Sanders.

Sanders pulled 44% of the vote in Pennsylvania in the 2016 primary against Clinton.

Pa. holds its 2020 primary on April 28, right at the midpoint of the Democratic calendar.

    1. If the “real adults” are visiting Pittsburgh, will the Bernie supporters be left home in their parents’ basements?
