Santarsiero Joins AGs Office

Steve SantarsieroFormer Congressional Candidate Steve Santarsiero was appointed by Attorney General Josh Shapiro serve as the Chief Deputy Attorney General of the Environmental Protection Section.

“I’m appointing Steve Santarsiero as Chief Deputy Attorney General to lead our efforts to take on and prosecute cases against anyone or any company that breaks the law and harms our environment,” Shapiro said in a statement announcing the appointment.  

“I’m honored to be appointed by Attorney General Shapiro to lead our renewed efforts to protect the environment and prosecute polluters who threaten or harm our natural resources,” Santarsiero said in the release.  

Santarsiero worked as an environmental lawyer before serving four terms in the State House before running for Congress last year.  He lost to now-Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick in the general election.  

Shapiro has made environmental issues a major part of the Attorney General’s Office in his first few months in office.

  1. Good lord. This guy has has never been a prosecutor and has no science background. Harrisburg is so broken.

  2. I guess that post 9/11 “calling” to teach only existed for enough time to set him up for a political run.

  3. It helps Steve to continue to run time for his state pension. It just like he never gave up his State House seat to run for Congress.

  4. Patronage alive and well. Ironic that the guy who beat Steve in November is voting just like him in Congress.

  5. This is an awesome and appropriate appointment. Steve has long been a fierce advocate for our environment in our PA State House, one of too very few. Bravo Josh, and good luck Steve.

  6. Good choice is you made here Josh Shapiro and maybe for Steve may run for Attorney General in the future.
