Santorum Wins National Home Schoolers Straw Poll

By Nicole Houck, Contributing Writer

Christian Home Educators Association of California and the Home School Legal Defense Association hosted the first annual Pacific Home School Super Conference last week. The conference brought over 1,200 home schoolers to participate in activities that included the Presidential Forum and the straw poll. Rick Santorum swept the poll receiving a total of 28% of the vote.

“It is easy to see why Rick Santorum, himself a homeschool father, registered a strong win. In his speech he pointed to his time in the Senate where he championed family issues including the right to life. He told the audience it was America that changed the world, and because of the freedom established by the founding fathers the world has changed,” a press release from the conference stated.

“I am gratified by the support we received among the homeschooling community.  Ensuring our children have access to a quality education is paramount, and I stand with these home schooling families in affirming that commitment,” said Santorum.

  1. I assume CHEA and HSLDA are practicing politics as a 501 (c) (3) organization. Have you informed the IRS? My country could use the tax revenue.

    Interesting….

  2. Give me a break. We have thousands of homeschoolers in CA. Millions across the U.S. and all they could garner is 1200 people to show up. Using a conservative estimate of 1.2 million, that would mean a whole .1% of homeschoolers were in attendance and of that POINT ONE %, 28% voted for Santorum. Ah, gee, .028% or 336 folks voted for Santorum. I’m sure I’d run right out and start a presidential campaign based on those numbers. NOT!
