Schwartz Calls on Weiner to Resign

Politico is reporting that Rep. Allyson Schwartz has called on embattled Rep. Anthony Weiner to resign:

“Having the respect of your constituents is fundamental for a member of Congress. In light of Anthony Weiner’s offensive behavior online, he should resign,” the Pennsylvania congresswoman, who serves as chairwoman of recruiting and candidate services for the DCCC, told POLITICO.

Schwartz is generally a team player at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and her statement on the subject is likely the sign of more pressure to come on Rep. Weiner.

  1. Perhaps Wiener’s focus on young ladies’ flirtations prevented him from respecting the worth of accomplished women (like his wife) and temper his foolishness to nurture a more serious approach to his work in service to the citizens. Perhaps his bullying and overt rudeness, flippant dismissiveness toward Meagyn Kelly on Fox, who is a talented professional, was fostered by this giddy-for-the-girlies game he’s playing. It’s good that a few Men, like Andrew Breitbart, showed the Congressman what it feels like to get pushed aside by muscle. In his “next life” he’ll have the opportunity to understand that Women like Schwartz, elevated to a leadership post to keep her towing the “Progressive” agenda is, likewise, a POLITICIAN and will vote him off the island if it becomes a game of survival.

  2. I TOTALLY disagree with you on this. If there is anything that infuriates me it is hypocrisy, and that is exactly what this is. How many other of your Congressional colleagues are perfectly pure and clean?? Can we start with Charley Rangel? All of his lying, cheating, stealing, tax evasion, etc. got him a censure and he is still in Congress… Take a good look in the mirror and see who is calling the kettle black!

  3. Thank you for taking the stand you have regarding Rep. Weiner, and the critical importance of integrity and trustworthiness in our public officials.

Although our political views may not be aligned on all issues, I applaud your character, and thank you for reflecting well on the Congress at a time when public trust seems to be on the wane.

  4. Also it is interesting to note that Schwartz is originally from Queens, NY. It is good to see a feminist actually step up and ask a misogynist to resign, despite her being politically connected to Weiner at the hip on almost every single issue.

Is she planning on moving back to Queens?
