Rep. Allyson Schwartz has hired a new communications team, welcoming a Communications and Digital Director to her campaign for Governor.
Mark Bergman, who briefly worked as her direct mail consultant, will serve as the campaign’s top spokesman starting next week. Kelli Klein will lead the digital team.
Bergman most recently worked for the group Mission Control Inc., a Democratic direct mail firm based in Connecticut. Via the firm he worked for several campaigns including: Rep. Brad Schneider (IL-10), Rep. Robin Kelly (IL-02), Rep. Tierney (MA-06) and Gov. Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire.
He has also served as Communications Director for Paul Hodes’ 2010 campaign for Senate in New Hampshire and for the Virginia Democratic Party.
Bergman stepped into the role in an interim capacity in July, after Schwartz’s previous Communications Director Reesa Kossoff abruptly left the campaign. He announced new role last week during a press call about the Schwartz camp’s internal poll.
Kelli Klein will oversee Schwartz’s online outreach as Digital Director.
She started organizing in 2006 and has worked for Wisconsin Senators Russ Feingold and Herb Kohl. Recently, she was the Digital Training Manager for the DC-based New Organizing Institute where she planned, executed and supervised trainings for unions, nonprofits and foundations. In 2012 she took a short leave to serve as Deputy Digital Director for President Obama’s re-election campaign in Iowa.
Several other Democrats are seeking the party’s nomination to face Gov. Tom Corbett in 2014, including State Treasurer Rob McCord, former Secretaries of the Department of Environmental Protection John Hanger and Katie McGinty, and former Secretary of the Department of Revenue Tom Wolf.

Great News! Congratulations. Very smart move. Mark Bergman is top notch. Sometimes he even smiles….
This isn’t news… You do realize this happened weeks ago, right?
Also, to the writer… Rob McCord is not an official or declared candidate for Governor. Therefore you statement is false. He is NOT seeking the nomination, unless you have some breaking news that no one else’s has. But wait, you wouldn’t have breaking news, because this is PoliticsPA, which only focuses on old, stale politics.
The end.
