Schwartz Loses Coms Director

Allyson Schwartz 2013 loresRep. Allyson Schwartz’s campaign for Governor is looking for staff. Her communications director, Reesa Kossoff abruptly left the campaign last week.

The news was first reported Thursday by Jake Sternberger of Keystone Politics, who noted that Kossoff had removed the title from her twitter account.

Kossoff declined to comment on the matter, telling PoliticsPA she was forwarding all inquiries to the Schwartz campaign. It’s not clear whether she left the campaign of her own volition or was made to leave.

“Reesa has left the campaign to pursue other opportunities,” Schwartz consultant Mark Bergman told PoliticsPA and Keystone Politics in separate emails. “We wish her all the best.”

Bergman is a strategist with Mission Control, LLC, a direct mail firm based in Connecticut.

Kossoff was a highly touted political operative after her work for the Obama campaign last year in Ohio. Connected to Schwartz via the national pro-choice Democratic organization EMILY’s List, Kossoff’s hire was announced with much fanfare in a Politico exclusive in March.

Several attempts to reach Schwartz’s campaign were not successful late Thursday. The campaign has yet to comment or even to confirm Kossof’s departure.

It’s the latest personnel change for the presumed frontrunner in the Democratic gubernatorial primary; Schwartz switched pollsters shortly after she decided to run for Governor in 2014 instead of Senate in 2016.

Several other Democrats are seeking the party’s nomination to face Gov. Tom Corbett in 2014, including State Treasurer Rob McCord, former Secretary of the Department of Revenue Tom Wolf, former Secretaries of the Department of Environmental Protection John Hanger and Katie McGinty.

  1. Maybe she didn’t like the NSA spying on her, and Schwartz’s vote to continue the practice.

We don’t need a NSA lapdog to be the one representing the Dems in the Governor’s race.

  2. Staff and consultant turnover is definitely a sign that everything is under control. I’m sure Schwartz’s chief of staff has already blacklisted Kossoff.
