After losing in the Democratic Gubernatorial primary to Tom Wolf, who eventually went on to defeat Tom Corbett in the general election, former Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz has accepted a position as President and CEO of the Better Medicare Alliance, a non-profit group funded by health insurers, providers and business groups.
“As President and CEO, I look forward to reaching out to everyone who cares about keeping the promise of Medicare [for] our seniors, to build on the experience of what works, and to share this knowledge to sustain Medicare for all of us. It is exciting and important work.”
According to Modern Healthcare, Schwartz has a history of being especially supportive of health care measures, including her advocation for moving physicians towards a payment system that rewards better quality and lower costs, rather than a fee-for-service method.
“While I worked on many issues in Congress, nothing was more important to me than ensuring quality, affordable, accessible healthcare to all Americans, particularly our seniors,” said Schwartz.
The Better Medicare Alliance was founded by UnitedHealth Group, Humana and Aetna, three of the largest Medicare Advantage Insurers in the country.

This is interesting. She was a big supporter of Obamacare which was supposed to cut funding for Medicare Advantage in order to help pay for the additional spending. Now she is lobbying to prevent the Medicare Advantage program’s schedule cuts to take place.
She should be ashamed of herself.
Still my dark horse call for Dem Senatorial nominee. Most Dem colleagues still laugh at me, but that has – alas – never deterred me. Watch.
for me going

Of course she is not ashamed. She has been a shill for corporate special interests all of her political career, especially within the medical industry. I’m sure she always intended to become a corporate lobbyist when she left government. The revolving door gravy train for corporatists like Schwartz continues to take care of its friends.
MEDICARE “advantage” is an expensive privatization boondoggle and she should be ashamed of herself!
