Schwartz Quietly Removes ‘Abortion Clinic of the Year’ Award from Campaign Bio

Allyson Schwartz 2012Congresswoman and gubernatorial hopeful Allyson Schwartz has removed from her campaign bio a reference to a national award she received while managing a Philadelphia women’s clinic.

Schwartz was the executive director of the Elizabeth Blackwell Center, a Planned Parenthood clinic, from 1975 to 1988 prior to entering elected office.

The award, which had been noted in the 3rd paragraph, now gets no mention on her website. Prior to its removal the section read, in part:

“Five-time winner: Abortion Clinic of the Year. Allyson won the prestigious National Abortion Rights Awards League award for people, ‘who exemplify all-around leadership in the field of providing unfettered access to abortion,’ and ‘who consistently outperform assigned quotas.’

“‘Special consideration is allotted to nominees who manage to obtain taxpayer funding.’”

Schwartz has insisted on retaining her campaign slogan.

One source close to Schwartz said the change came only after a heated debate within the campaign.

“We kept saying, this isn’t Philadelphia. Running an abortion clinic isn’t an asset to a statewide candidate in Pa. In fact, some extremists argue that it’s actually a liability.”

The source said Schwartz agreed to the bio change but overruled her inner circle when they sought to alter her campaign slogan, ‘Abortions for Some, Miniature American Flags for Others’.

  1. As an award winning abortionist, perhaps you could tell us just how much aborted fetal tissue sells for on the open market?

  2. Is the slogan a joke? I am sometimes not so quick to catch inner circle jokes, but if this is her actual slogan, she must be insane. An aside…suppose someone wanted both the abortion and flag…would they be denied?

  3. NNNI worked for your reelection last year and for years before then was a constituent @ 1500 trees st. I never knew you ran an abortion clinic
and while I may be wrong neither did your newsletters as my state legislator and congressperson. I fully intended on again volunteering for your campaign. Please full disclosure and what is you opinion on the Identified Gosnell case.

  4. Being pro-choice and being an abortionist are two different things. Is it any wonder so many pro-choice politicians love to say “…but I’m personally opposed…?”

  5. You can expect an over-the-top, threatening email from her chief of staff in 3, 2, 1…
