Sen. Richard Alloway (R-Franklin), who represented the 33rd District since 2009, announced in January he was resigning from office on Feb. 28. In an interview with The Caucus, Alloway said he’s going to be a lobbyist and cited being “sick and tired” of politics in Harrisburg as a reason for retiring from office. Alloway was unopposed in his most recent reelection bid in 2016.
Sen. Don White (R-Indiana), who represented the 41st District since 2001, announced he was retiring from office as of Feb. 28. White, 69, stated he felt much older than his current age after nearly 2 decades in the state legislature.
“When I came here, I was 50 years old, and I felt like I was 30,” he said. “But now, I’m 69, and I feel like I’m 89.”
White was comfortably re-elected in 2016 by a 40 plus point margin.
The nominees for both elections will be selected by the parties.
Each winner of the special election will serve through 2020.

I think for the Republicans will hold on to State senate district 33 and for the democrats will gain the state senate district 41 in 2019.
Hey moron: Do you know the voter demographics in the 41st?
I do and the district has trended in enough of a red way for me to believe that the conclusion is foregone.
REALLY? You can’t just disagree you have to be insulting as well. Thanks for being part of the problem.
