Eyeing 2012 challenge to Casey, Corman bolsters social conservative cred

State Sen. Jake Corman (R-Bellefonte) reached out to social conservative voters with his announcement to introduce legislation that will require state Department of Health officials to provide licensing and annual inspections for abortion clinics within the Commonwealth.
He’s making inroads with a key demographic that could help him take on Casey: social conservatives.

Schweiker: Senate Run “Not in the Cards”

Former Governor Mark Schweiker definitively ruled out a challenge to U.S. Senator Bob Casey in an interview this afternoon with PoliticsPA. “It’s always flattering to hear such invocations, but it wasn’t born of my thought process. It’s not in the cards. It was never in the cards,” said Schweiker.

Casey Pushes for Filibuster Reform

Senator Bob Casey joined several Democrats calling for reform of the Senate procedure known as filibuster. In recent years, the practice has been used by Democrats and Republicans to effectively require a 60-vote majority for each step of the legislative process. Casey’s press release is below.
