Senator Mike Stack’s (D-Philadelphia) campaign for Lietuenant Governor is off to a great start in the new year, with $397,133.64 still in the bank.

As a four-term, sitting state senator, he brought forth a portion of that money from his previous campaigns but approximately $66,000 comes from fundraising in the month of December and Stack did not contribute anything to himself, according to his campaign. The full report will be available early next month.

“Senator Stack is grateful that his message of economic fairness and his progressive values are resonating with donors and voters. He will clearly have the resources necessary to tell his story to working and middle class families throughout Pennsylvania ” said Marty Marks, Stack’s new campaign manager.

Marks was brought on board as campaign manager last week, and has a strong background in Western Pennsylvania and with labor organizations across the state.

On the fundraising side, Philadelphia-based Lindsey Perry, who has worked for Dan Onorato and Mayor Michael Nutter, joined the Stack team in mid-November as Finance Director.

“We have a first-rate, professional fund raising operation in place and enjoy the position of being the only Lieutenant Governor candidate from southeastern Pennsylvania, providing us a home-field advantage with a significantly greater base of potential donors, not to mention voters,” Marks said.

Stack had originally been exploring a run for governor, but reorganized his campaign when he decided to run for Lieutenant Governor instead. Although much of the field for governor is from SEPA, Stack is the only LG candidate from that region.

He also serves as a Captain in the Pennsylvania National Guard, has been endorsed by the Philadelphia Democratic City Committee and the Philadelphia Democratic Chairman, Congressman Bob Brady is serving as co-chair of his campaign.

The only other Lt. Gov. candidate to reveal their fundraising reports before they’re made public is Bradford County Commissioner Mark Smith. Smith disclosed that he raised over $230,000 in his bid for lieutenant governor and did not indicate how much was left on hand.

Also in the Democratic field for the Lieutenant Governor nomination are former Congressman Mark Critz, Harrisburg City Councilman Brad Koplinski and Brenda Alton. State Reps. Brandon Neuman is also expected to jump into the race.
