Senator Bob Casey has finally joined the latest new media frontier: Twitter. Casey’s office launched its official Twitter page late Friday: @SenBobCasey.

“Twitter is another way to communicate Senator Casey’s work to rejuvenate Pennsylvania’s economy and hold government accountable,” said spokesperson Larry Smar.

While Casey is the face of Twitter account, his press office actually does the tweeting.

Casey is well known for his back-to-basics messaging about jobs and the economy. His inaugural tweet fell along those lines.

“Today’s employment report shows that the PA economy continues to recover. Unemployment dropped to 7.5 percent,” Casey tweeted.

Casey joins a long line of politicians who utilize Twitter as a means of messaging. Several PA politicians use the social network as a means of communication, especially during election cycles.
