State Representative Justin Simmons (R-Lehigh) is strongly considering a run for Lieutenant Governor in 2018.
Simmons told the Allentown Morning Call that he will make his decision soon.
“In nutshell, yes. It’s something my family and I have been speaking about,” Simmons said.
Simmons was first elected to the House in 2010 as part of the tea party wave that year. He has been a vocal advocate of privatizing the liquor system, shrinking the size of the legislature, and making the legislature part-time.
Simmons made headlines last year when he ran for and won re-election, breaking his original promise in 2010 to only run for three terms.
Former Revenue Secretary Dan Meuser is also considering a run for the office. Former state Representative Gordon Denlinger (R-Lancaster) is also rumored to be considering a run.

Can I simply say what a reduction to search out somebody who really knows what theyre talking about on the internet. You undoubtedly know the right way to bring an issue to gentle and make it important. More individuals have to read this and understand this aspect of the story. I cant believe youre not more in style since you positively have the gift.

Sounds like some jealous folks on here. My guess is it’s slippery Pete Schweyer who has been running for office since he was 10 years old and couldn’t win until the Latino seat was handed to him. Go to the back of the line in the minority where you belong Pete. Nobody likes you.
LOL – I definitely thought this was an early April Fools’ Day post. Then I realized it was not a joke and this lightweight was seriously having delusions of grandeur.
Simmons needs to do a better job at his current position before anyone would even consider giving him a promotion. He’s not a very good legislator (see below). He was MIA from work for a whole month last year with no explanation giving to constituents – rumors abound (missing House votes is the proof he was gone). He doesn’t show up a lot of places he is invited in the district (just ask around and people wonder where he is all the time). And, he got re-elected after breaking his term limit pledge (bc he had no credible opponent).
Ace Ventura – I will forgive your mistake since you are only a ‘pet detective.’ My search turns up 2 bills by Simmons that were signed into law in the now almost 7 years he has been in office, and they don’t seem to be anything groundbreaking. Please let me know if you have more items than what turns up on the official House website: http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/BS/bs_view.cfm?sessYr=2017&sessInd=0&mbrBody=H
Joe Gale is a nice guy but come on. Simmons has had 5 pieces of legislation signed into law and is an accomplished legislator. There is no comparison between the two.
What a joke the guy is a square!
Oh, neat. I guess Joe Gale is unavailable?
