Allegheny County DA Stephen Zappala scored a major endorsement over the President’s Day weekend.
Lieutenant Governor Mike Stack announced that he will be backing Zappala’s campaign for Attorney General.
“As Lieutenant Governor and a Philadelphia Democratic leader with many years of political history, I can say rarely in public life do we have the opportunity to support a candidate so perfectly prepared for a public office as Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala is for Pennsylvania Attorney General,” Stack stated in an email to supporters.
“Steve has earned my support and I encourage you to give him yours.”
The endorsement is particularly noteworthy because it appeared Shapiro had the support of the biggest names in the PA Democratic Party. For example, former Governor Ed Rendell is with Zappala’s opponent Josh Shapiro while Gov. Wolf named the Montgomery County Commissioner as the Chair of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
Lt. Governor Stack is not only the highest ranking official to back Zappala, but is also a major Philly politician at a time when both candidates are trying to avoid an east/west divide in this race.
Also running for the Democratic nomination is John Morganelli, while Kane is still toying with a run for re-election.

the zap family tried to get one of their girls a judgeship– she was rated unqualified by the bar association. big steve zap then laid the hammer down on judges in allegheny county to get little steve zap appointed to the DA job when col Ville got elected judge. supreme court justice big steve Zap was a character witness for convicted Phila. felon vince fumo. if fumo still has any pull you can bet little steve zap will get some fumo-driven Phila. style endorsements. interesting also that zap brother greg managed to skate in the kids – for – cash scandal . guess he just did not know how those juv jails w ere getting so filled up. all the zap family behind the scenes maneuvering makes me a little sick at the thought of putting any zap into higher office.
Since when does the Lt. Gov endorse on his own? Does that mean Tom Wolf is doing the same? Or will he endorse someone else? I’ve always thought endorsements by elected officials means little anyway, but I don’t remember ever seeing the Lt. Gov “endorsing” anyone.
Is Luzerne County west of the Susquehanna? I see him having trouble at the table in NEPA after his brother’s Cash for Kids” scandal and the the antics of the Bazzano-Zappala-Porter mafia at the airport, with Judge Conahan (only 15 more years in prison and still not snitching) and with all the credit swap defaults with local schools and municipalities that the mob’s financial arm instituted, losing millions in taxpayer money. How many indictments? Apparently not enough since the Feds are back. Even if the NEPA locals believed the findings of the juvie white wash committee, they aren’t about to invite the pigs back to the trough.
Zappala is going to run the table Weston the Susquehanna. The only question is where is Doc and Brady? If rumor is true that Zappala has them, this race is over.
Who is Stack, he is our Lt Gov. Granted he has no influence over anyone but his wife- never mind, he has no control over her either.
Who???? Who is Mike Stack?
For all the posters who didn’t believe my admonition a few days ago due to unabashed love or hatred of Kathleen Kane, pay attention.

I heard Zappala speak this week and the first person he needs to hire is a speech writer.
And a Stack endorsement is worth what these days? Ask Martina White.
