The state House of Representatives will consider two bills requiring all construction firms in the state and any company receiving taxpayer money to use the E-Verify system.”This would allow the state to take a contractor’s license” if the company knowingly hires illegal immigrants, state Rep. Tim Seip, D-125, said Wednesday afternoon.E-Verify, an electronic database that verifies citizenship using Social Security numbers, is mandated by law in 12 states.Seip and state Rep. Neal Goodman, D-123, want to make Pennsylvania the 13th.The legislators, both members of the Labor Relations Committee, voted to move House bills 1502 and 1503 out of committee and to the House floor Monday. Bill 1502 deals with construction companies, while 1503 encompasses projects using public money.
