State Legislators Form Nationwide Task Force to Halt Anchor Baby-Exploited Illegal Alien Invasion

State Legislators Form Nationwide Task Force to Halt Anchor Baby-Exploited Illegal Alien Invasion

HARRISBURG—State Legislators for Legal Immigration (SLLI) founder and Pennsylvania State Representative Daryl Metcalfe hosted a press conference in a coordinated effort with state legislators across the nation to announce the formation of a nationwide task force that will develop model state legislation to eliminate the misapplication of the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which is currently being utilized to secure citizenship for the children of illegal aliens and their families.  As a result, hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens are crossing U.S. borders to give birth and use their child, or “anchor baby,” as a means to obtain residency, access taxpayer-funded benefits and steal American jobs for themselves and for their families.

“While the federal government continues to remain AWOL, acting in many ways as a blatant obstruction to fulfilling our Constitutional obligation to protect the lives, liberty and property of the American citizens we serve, this ongoing distortion and twisting of the 14th Amendment greatly incentivizes foreign invaders to violate our border and our laws,” said Metcalfe. “Anchor babies are one of the principal reasons that illegal aliens are crossing and costing American taxpayers $113 billion annually, or nearly $1,117 yearly per individual taxpayer.”

During an 1866 Congressional debate, U.S. Representative John Bingham, considered one of the fathers of the 14th Amendment, said “…every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your Constitution itself, a natural born citizen…”  Due to the historic and constitutional ramifications that have created the anchor baby status, the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) will be providing members of the 14th Amendment Citizens Model Committee with expert legal research and analysis to ensure that all legislative solutions brought forth by task force members are successful at the Constitutional level.

“Since the vast majority of the cost of illegal alien crimes against American citizens are absorbed  in our schools, hospitals, prisons and hometowns, state lawmakers across the nation have no choice but to join together to end this unconscionable abuse of the children of illegal alien invaders and the Constitutional liberties of American citizens,” said Metcalfe.    “The mission of this task force is to deliver a legislative solution that all 50 states can use to shut off a primary economic faucet that encourages pregnant illegal alien women to sneak across the border to have their babies, and in the process, reclaim hundreds of millions of hard-earned American tax dollars that are being fraudulently handed over to countless foreign invaders.”

In September, SLLI filed an amicus brief with the United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals against the Obama administration’s legal challenge to Arizona’s newly enacted illegal alien apprehension and deportation law (Senate Bill 1070).   Including Pennsylvania, lawmakers from 41 state legislatures, or more than 80 percent of the nation, have now signed on as members of SLLI.   For the latest updates, visit StateLegislatorsforLegalImmigration.com.
