Stephen Colbert Talks Santorum (With Video)

By Keegan Gibson, Managing Editor

Former PA Senator and prospective GOP 2012 Presidential contender Rick Santorum got some national press last night, but suffice it to say it’s probably not the type of Colbert bump he was hoping for.

“I believe that it’s never too early for me to pick the winner in the 2012 Presidential race. And so far my money is on former Pennsylvania Senator and current Men’s Warehouse mannequin Rick Santorum,” Colbert said.

“A staunch conservative, Santorum has name recognition. Only one problem. He’s got name recognition.”

The host of Comedy Central’s Colbert Report went on to devote a segment of last night’s show to Santorum and his Google problem.”

If you’ve never heard of this, we’ll put it delicately: anyone googling the Senator’s name is not likely to associate the search results with strong family values.

If you want to hear Stephen Colbert read it verbatim, just watch the video.

Colbert proceeded to encourage his viewers to google Santorum’s name, “Click on every link that brings it up, and tell the people running those sites to take it down. Be sure to click on those links over and over again to make sure they know you’re angry.”

  1. LOVE it! Thank you Mr. Colbert and Mr. Savage. We really can’t have ignorant apes like Santorum around. His new “definition” is very well deserved!

  2. The problem is way bigger. Ever since a sexual term previously undefined was defined, it has more or less entered the slang lexicon of the lower 48.

Here in Texas, when hanging out with friends and the dialogue takes a downward turn. The word “Santorum” may be used without knowledge of the man who inspired it. We simply know it usually when discussion turns to prostate exams or anal sex. Remember, this term has been around awhile.
