Kevin Strouse, a Democratic Congressional candidate for the Eighth District, has won his second union endorsement of the primary campaign. The first-time candidate gained the backing of the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals (PASNAP) today.

“Kevin Strouse took the time to listen to us and understand the issues that nurses face on the job, like inadequate nurse-to-patient ratios and risks of workplace violence,” said Patricia Eakin, PASNAP President and emergency room nurse. “He is dedicated to standing up for the middle class and will fight for us, for our jobs, and for our patients.”

“I am proud to have the support of the hard working men and women of the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals, who provide a vital service to our communities in Bucks and Montgomery Counties,” Strouse said in response to PASNAP’s endorsement. “I am committed to doing everything I can to work with them to ensure that families and seniors in the 8th District have access to high quality, affordable health care.”

Earlier this month, Strouse was endorsed by Local 7048 of the American Postal Workers Union.

Strouse is a former Army Ranger and ex-CIA officer. His Democratic primary opponent is businesswoman Shaughnessy Naughton. They are seeking to defeat Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick (R-Bucks) next November.

  1. To be honest if Kevin Strouse gets 45-47% of the vote I think that’s a win. Make down payment on running in 2016. No way he beats Fitzpatrick. But one little problem he could run into in 2016 is if Corbett Loses in 14. Lt Gov. Jim Cawley will need a job. He would a strong candidate for this seat. Very difficult to beat in Bucks County.

  2. Fitzpatrick won’t be beat. He won by 13 points in the 2012 presidential year. Sure Strousse may be a better candidate than the last opponent and yes Corbett tops the ticket, but it is still a midterm election and the margin of victory will still remain at least five points.
