With a week until the primary, the race for Superior Court goes to television.

Dan McCaffery, Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Judge, released his first television ad in the three candidate race in the Democratic primary for Superior Court.

McCaffery’s 30 second spot, Black Robe – Blue Collar, highlights his blue collar upbringing and lists his experience as a judge and prosecutor as examples of why he is fit to serve on the Superior Court.

“I believe in working hard for hard working people,” McCaffery says in the ad. “I’ve rolled up my sleeves to reform our courts so the system is more fair, efficient and effective. I promise to keep working hard to make sure that justice for all is not just a slogan and to make sure that everyone gets a fair shake.”

The ad also highlights McCaffery’s service in the Army and endorsements from the PA AFL-CIO, Fraternal Order of Police in Allegheny County and Philadelphia, and International Association of Firefights in Allentown, Bethlehem and Philadelphia.

McCaffery, brother of former state Supreme Court Justice Seamus McCaffery, is facing former Allegheny County Councilwoman Amanda Green-Hawkins, and Western Pennsylvania attorney Beth Tarasi in the Democratic primary.

The Pennsylvania Democratic Party endorsed McCaffery and Green-Hawkins at their most recent state committee meeting.

Tarasi also debuted an ad this week highlighting her courtroom experience.

McCaffery’s campaign said the ad is broadcasting on 5 network markets and 6 digital markets statewide.
