The state Supreme Court ruled that former Pennsylvania Turnpike CEO Joseph Brimmeier cannot be reimbursed for his legal fees following the pay to play scandal.
The court’s decision ends Brimmeier’s pursuit of getting $300,000 in legal fees reimbursed through the Turnpike Commission. The Commonwealth Court made the same ruling in September.
Brimmeier claims that the contract he had with the commission allowed for him to be reimbursed for legal fees in connection with the case.
Brimmeier is serving five years of probation after he pled guilty to conflict of interest charges. Brimmeier was one of eight people charged in the corruption in connection with the scandal. When the prosecutions ended in 2014, none of those charged received jail time.
