T-Paw Heads to Pittsburgh

By Keegan Gibson, Managing Editor

Former Minnesota governor and 2012 presidential hopeful Tim Pawlenty is heading to Pittsburgh tonight to deliver the keynote address at the Allegheny County Republican Committee’s annual Spirit of Lincoln Dinner.

“Governor Pawlenty is glad to come share his story about growing up in a blue-collar town, his record of cutting spending in Minnesota, and his vision for America,” said Pawlenty campaign spokesman Alex Conant. “Conservatives are on the move in Pennsylvania, so we’re glad to come lend our support.”

Chairman Jim Roddey says he expects a large crowd at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center tonight, likely over 500.

“We are very excited about having Governor Pawlenty,” said Roddey. “He is emerging as one of the front runners for the Republican presidential nomination and this will be the first time that I think a lot of people in this area will get to meet him, which I think is good.”

“We’re expecting a good turnout, and we would hope, over the next several months, we may have several other candidates coming in to talk to us.”

Roddey said that Allegheny County has the largest number of registered Republicans of any PA county, and the largest Republican committee.

Congressman Tim Murphy and Majority Leader Mike Turzai will be giving short presentations before Pawlenty’s speech. Also in attendance will be Allegheny County Exec contenders Chuck McCullough and D. Raja, though neither candidate is scheduled to speak.

PA Democrats are also gearing up to “welcome” Pawlenty.

“Pennsylvania residents do not need to be lectured on fiscal responsibility by an absentee governor who left Minnesota in financial ruin.” said Jim Burn, Chairman of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party and a Pittsburgh native. “Tim Pawlenty’s empty campaign rhetoric cannot cover up his long record of fiscal failure in Minnesota.”

Over the past week, Pittsburgh has felt like Iowa, New Hampshire or South Carolina. That’s because, between last week’s NRA convention and Pawlenty’s speech tonight, five – count ‘em, five – GOP presidential hopefuls will have visited the city.

  1. Jim Burn can preach what he does not practice him self but i think if he was correct about Tim Pawlenty leaving “Minnesota in financial ruin” I dare him to say anything of how Allegheny county is doing financially , as he is our new President of AC Council and further more Mr. Jim Burn well known and liked by many Democrats could not or maybe even would not touch Dr. Ron Paul who is not recognized as a front runner by republicans yet but currently serving as Chairman of the Domestic Monetary Policy House Subcommittee in 2011

I think Dr. Ron Paul Congressmen of Texas native Pittsburgh (Greentree/Dormont area)is the only presidential contender that with his common seance and consistent constitutional/liberty minded record ans HONESTY could educate and win the hearts of all involved not only Democrats and republicans but bring together Libertarian, Constitution, Green and all other independent parties to address the issues that matters for all Americans. We are either globalist or American…I am for Americanism how about you?

Thank you America for the opportunity to be a true American and Thank you Dr. Ron Paul for all that you have ever done with consistent voting record that is honest and of the best service to all people not only in America but you are teaching the world about the failure of the global Economy promoting Freedom Prosperity and Peace for each and every one of us!
