The Full 2017 PA Society List of Events

NYCNHHH_1It’s that time of year, politicos: Pennsylvania Society! Here’s a rundown of the events at the weekend-long marathon of dinners and cocktails.

The weekend is taking place a week earlier than usual and at a different venue, leading to some organizations to cancel their events for the weekend.  The Waldorf Astoria is undergoing renovations, so the event has been moved to the New York Hilton Midtown instead.

As a result of the change in date and venue, the PoliticsPA Governor Mifflin Society Reception will not be held this year.

“In the tradition of Grover Cleveland and Tom Corbett, it is incumbent upon us to take a one year break from our Pennsylvania Society Tradition,” Larry Ceisler said in an email.

Throughout the weekend, many will likely be talking about the groundwork for next year’s Governor and Senate elections, and how the election of President Trump has changed politics in Pennsylvania.

Update: Lieutenant Governor candidate Aryanna Berringer came out against politicians going to PA Society, saying she will instead volunteer during the weekend.  Governor Tom Wolf stayed in Pennsylvania for the last two PA Society meetings choosing to volunteer instead, but will be attending this year’s meeting.

“I won’t go.There is just too much work to be done in Pennsylvania: whether it’s figuring out our state budget, or what will happen to children who will lose their healthcare when Donald Trump kicks them off CHIP, or all the other Pennsylvanians who find themselves in need, hanging out in swanky New York City bars doesn’t seem like a good Progressive answer to me,” Berringer said.

Below is the list of events going on this weekend, if we missed any, please email us at paul@politicspa.com.

  1. You've been Had says:

What does one have to do to get an invitation to one of these parties where anyone can Buy an elected official . This whole thing seems to be a Scam on the good people of Pennsylvania . The Big Shots party Big Time while plotting More was to screw Sam and Susie 6 Pack out of more money we already pay about 65 % altogether in Taxes Including Death Taxes or should I say being Taxed to Death .

  2. Filed notes says:

Looking at that fat Check Book Dan Meuser is carrying around more endorsements are about to come his way. What’s the going rate for a party officials endorsement? If it’s less then a few grand he might have bought some den endorsements this time as well. Dan the taxing swamp man at home in the ballrooms of New York.

  3. PASocietyUsedToBeGreat says:

No reason to go at all if the Ceisler and IBEW 98 party aren’t happening. Everything else is invite only or cost $$$$$. All the self-important kids in their 20s and early 30s in their best suits who have no business going will be wandering the streets looking for free booze and causing traffic jams.

  4. Heathrow says:

    PA Society=Swamp.

  5. Pa socity says:

Can you tell me which important / invite ones are missing?

    Thanks

    1. Pa Observer says:

Bravo Group, Energy Association, PA Chamber, etc. All are little-known organizations so it is understandable that they would be missed.

      1. Don Providence says:

Diano will be hosting a party in his pants. Mike Stack is the keynote speaker. That is all.

        1. Stack's Driver says:

I’m a big fan of DD, but lol anyway.

      2. Answer Desk says:

        LOL

  6. Pa observer says:

Can you please stop calling this the “Complete” list because there are many other important but invitation-only events that are missing. Thank you.

  7. Answer Desk says:

What’s a wirs and why do we want it?

  8. Barricks Einwohner says:

The Commonwealth just went through another ridiculous budgetary season where money will be BORROWED to balance the budget. Now these orschlucks will whoop it up in NYC? Spend the money and generate the taxes here in good old PA.

  9. centPAdem says:

Just another unnecessary event for the 1%ers to flaunt their wealth over the rest of us.

    1. Duh says:

Tired of people bashing the wealthy. Work harder, spend wisely, and join the 1% (and attend the parties).

      1. Barricks Einwohner says:

        Just like you did?

  10. Ming the merciless. says:

Shame that a good guy like Peduto dirties himself with a phony like Fitz. The Zappala mafia has snuck into Pgh’s hq through the back door which phony Fitz opened for them. Watch your back , Peduto!

  11. Militant Republican Moderate says:

No Local 98 event. Were all their funds frozen by the Feds?

  12. Wolfie says:

Will Wolf pretend to serve Soup to the poor this year with his girls Mary and Sin or sneak off to NYC to suck up to money buddies… Phoney Baloney fake Wolf

  13. gulag Pittsburgh says:

…Grover Cleveland and Tom Corbett…..2 LOSERS.

    1. Jared says:

Really………he only lost once. Won his first election and then after losing came right back and won the very next time……ben Harrison wasn’t able to pull that off

  14. @ PA Society says:

Those people shouldnt be allowed to spend their money and do things on their free time!!!!

  15. The Answer Desk says:

What a completely absurd comment. WTF does Trump have to do with anything?

    1. gulag Pittsburgh says:

In his own demented mind, Trump believes the world revolves around Trump.

  16. Axe the Establishment says:

There will certainly be a lot of promiscuity going on up there this weekend. This is a despicable tradition in Pennsylvania and I sincerely hope President Trump ends this tradition once and for all. The sex, drugs and rock & roll culture in PA politics must end.

    1. William the Devil says:

I agree that Pennsylvania is obscenely corrupt and luxurious. The desire to have Trump end it is insane and proof-positive that voters cannot be trusted with the key protections of democracy.

How do you propose Trump ends “this tradition”? Declaring it illegal? Arresting people? Banning free-association. Classic pathetic dictator shit.

    2. gulag Pittsburgh says:

Do you suggest moving it to Moscow for Trump’s pleasure of a Golden Shower?

      1. Axe the Estabilishment says:

I don’t even like lemonade so there’s no need to do anything in Moscow.

    3. PAPiltico says:

While i agree this is a generally stupid and outdated tradition. Democrats hold their own events in Commonwealth society so it’s not just the GOP. Trump has NO ability to shut down events like this so be realistic about the power of the president. Commonwealth is an independent fundraising organization that funds philanthropic causes…but it’s become the hotbed of everything wrong in PA politics.

    4. Rick Santorum Jr. Jr. says:

Wow. You want President Trump to end a party?

What would you like him to do? How much overreach of power do you want them man to have?
