After a tour of a controversial minimum-security halfway house in the city’s downtown with state Rep. Tarah Toohil and members of the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday, state Department of Corrections Secretary Designee John Wetzel sidestepped a question whether he would cancel a contract with the operator but promised to review information that could warrant such action.
In the wake of several violent crimes committed by current or former facility residents, Toohil, R-Butler Township, has been fighting to have changes made there and possibly have the state contract with MinSec – the facility operator – canceled.
