Toomey and Casey Both Endorse Philly for the 2016 Democratic Convention

Casey-ToomeyBoth Senators who represent Pennsylvania in the United States Senate, Bob Casey and Pat Toomey, have endorsed the city of Philadelphia as the site that the Democratic National Committee should select to host their 2016 convention.

“Philadelphia is ready for this convention,” the Senators wrote. The other two remaining options are Columbus, Ohio, and New York, New York.

According to CBS3, the Democratic Convention could bring up to $200 million for the local economy.

Philadelphians are hoping a variety of improvements to the city, including the new boardwalk on the Schuylkill, the new bike share, and the new SEPTA Key system (both of which should be completed by the time of the convention) will help sway Democratic leaders into selecting the City of Brotherly Love over Columbus and New York.

Philadelphia is noted for having a capable public transit system and unique historical significance.

Back in August, Politico announced that Philly probably has the edge among the three cities.

The convention is scheduled to be held the week of July 25, 2016.
