U.S. Senator Pat Toomey endorsed Congressman Lou Barletta’s Senate bid to challenge Democratic Senator Bob Casey.
“It’s time we all unite behind Lou and support him with our time, our energy, and most of all, with our vote,” Toomey said in a video announcing his endorsement.
Toomey touted Barletta’s role in helping pass the tax reform bill through the House.
“When we recently needed an ally in the House to pass the most sweeping tax reforms in a generation, Lou was there every step of the way.”
“Senator Toomey has been a leading conservative voice in the U.S. Senate, and he has a strong record of winning tough campaigns in Pennsylvania,” Barletta said.
Barletta continued that he is “proud to have his support and friendship.”
Toomey’s endorsement comes as Barletta is beginning to show the support of the party establishment ahead of the PA GOP’s winter endorsement meeting in February. Barletta has won all but 17 of the votes in the three caucus straw polls held so far.
Bartletta is running against businessman Paul Addis, Cynthia Ayers, state Rep. Jim Christiana, and Bobby Lawrence for the Republican nomination.

Lou’s a nice enough guy, he’s just not very smart. His talking points on immigration won’t be enough to beat Casey.
Bob Casey is a shadow of the man that he once was.
Lawn Gnome Toomey can endorse whoever he wants, but Casey will crush them.
What a surprise! Is Toomey going to raise $ for LOU. He will need it.
